Exploring Disney: It’s Tough to be a Bug!

If you are looking for a casual walk into a cool area and a place to sit in a comfortable theater, It’s Tough to be a Bug at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is definitely the place for you! I can’t say that I love bugs, but it is very hard to resist our favorite ant, Flik as he hosts a look into what it’s like to be a bug. You will become an honorary bug as part of the show, with your 3-D bug eye glasses. I dare you to not laugh at each other!

As the show begins, the theater comes alive in 4-D with all kinds of bugs, as you learn how they live. During the show you may get sprayed with harmless “acid” from a soldier termite and come face to face with a stink bug – you will know him when he arrives! Hopper also makes an appearance and that is when things really get buggy! Can Flik make him understand that you are just an honorary bug and not out to get him and all the other bugs?

The theater is dark throughout the show and you can expect special effects from all directions, even under you, above you, and all around. But don’t worry, it is all Disney Magic!

You should be prepared that the show may be a bit much for younger and even some older guests, but it is easy to “escape” through the far left doors. A cast member will be there to help you. My grand-daughter and her mom did make that exit. While there is no height limit on this attraction, it is not recommended for those afraid of the dark and loud noises and effects.

See It’s Tough to be a Bug and you will definitely have a new found appreciation for bugs!

Debbie and her husband live in Chattanooga, TN. They both are huge Disney fans and try to visit the most Magical Place on Earth at least once a year, if possible. They are enjoying taking each of their now 10 grandchildren and hope to also take their great granddaughter in the near future. One of their favorite trips has been visiting Disney with adults only, including one trip when their son proposed to his girlfriend. Each trip begins with the planning, which can take up to a year, beginning with how to get the grandkids excited about their upcoming trip. They have surprised some of them the day before they left, while the latest one had “presents” every 10 days starting at 90 days all leading up to an exciting trip with her parents along also. Their philosophy on Disney Trips? “Each trip is completely different, like visiting Walt Disney World for the first time.” They both enjoy all that Disney has to offer, but enjoy Animal Kingdom and EPCOT the most. It is their goal that everyone who visits Walt Disney World has a magical trip with lots of memories to last a life time.
