Exploring Disney: Lefou’s Brew

12698696_10101993917096224_5168436477296746411_oBefore our last family trip to the Walt Disney World Resort, I’d been lurking on every imaginable Disney-related blog, Facebook page, and forum I could find. Two words kept appearing over and over: Lefou’s Brew.

By the name of it, I assumed it was an alcoholic beverage. Once I realized this cult favorite, Lefou’s Brew, was for thirsty guests of all ages, I looked into it more and found a description something along these lines:

It’s no-sugar added frozen apple juice with a hint of toasted marshmallow, topped with all-natural passion fruit-mango foam.”

Fast forward to the day of our arrival – we checked in at Pop Century, rode the bus to Magic Kingdom, and as the sun was beating down in the early afternoon, nothing sounded better than a cool, refreshing treat. We made a beeline through the castle and over to Gaston’s Tavern in New Fantasyland. You can order your Brew in a disposable cup or 1 of 2 souvenir cups. A gold, plastic Belle goblet or a brown (also plastic) Gaston stein. We opted for one of each souvenir cup.

The drinks were even more delicious than described and we slurped them down as quick as humanly possible without giving ourselves brain freeze. We visited Magic Kingdom 3 times during that trip, and each time, we ordered more Lefou’s Brews. That hint of toasted marshmallow and passion-fruit mango foam is nothing short of …well, magical!

The kids loved them. The grown ups loved them. We were clinking our plastic cups all the way around the table. We didn’t try any food at Gaston’s Tavern last time but that’s on our to-do list for the next visit. The tavern is intricately themed and you truly feel as if you’ve stepped into a scene from Beauty and the Beast.

Do yourself a favor the next time you’re at the Magic Kingdom and enjoy this fruity, refreshing, frozen beverage.
