Exploring Disney: 999 Happy Haunts…..Plus Room for One More

Located in Liberty Square, the stately Haunted Mansion is definitely more than meets the eye! As you approach the house you will find several intriguing hints of things to come inside. There is a musical crypt, a leaky tomb and even a ghostly writer! There is also a cemetery as you walk along the stone path – and be sure to check out the tombstone writings and I bet there will be more than one giggle! As in true Disney fashion the queue is sure to keep everyone entertained.

But wait, the doors to this mysterious mansion open and you are ushered into the hall to head to your Doom Buggy ride – when suddenly the door closes and you realize that there are no doors in the hall! The room begins to move………. Is the room stretching? Are you going down or moving at all? And how will you get out?

Suddenly a door does open and you make your way down a corridor to your own Doom Buggy. Each buggy holds a maximum of 2 adults. While this ride is not scary, it is dark, so it is recommended to keep young ones with an adult. Don’t worry, there are plenty of buggies to go around, so it is easy to split your group up. Hint – be sure to leave some room in the middle!

Now the excitement starts as your ghost host escorts you through each haunted chamber. Along the way you will see Madame Leota’s room as she conducts a seance, a chilling cemetery with a caretaker that is still shaking in his boots, and even a special ghostly banquet and ballroom dancing. There are 999 friendly spirits at Haunted Mansion, but there is always room for one more!

The Haunted Mansion is for all ages, heights and while it is not scary, it is a dark ride and can be unsettling for younger guests. There is no gore or scary parts, but there are a few rather surprising scenes. Speaking as someone that despises your normal Halloween haunted houses, I absolutely love this ride!

Beware of hitchhiking ghosts though – they may just follow you home!

Happy Haunting!

Find out how the FREE services of a Disney World travel agent can make planning your Disney vacation simple and STRESS FREE!

Debbie and her husband live in Chattanooga, TN. They both are huge Disney fans and try to visit the most Magical Place on Earth at least once a year, if possible. They are enjoying taking each of their now 10 grandchildren and hope to also take their great granddaughter in the near future. One of their favorite trips has been visiting Disney with adults only, including one trip when their son proposed to his girlfriend. Each trip begins with the planning, which can take up to a year, beginning with how to get the grandkids excited about their upcoming trip. They have surprised some of them the day before they left, while the latest one had “presents” every 10 days starting at 90 days all leading up to an exciting trip with her parents along also. Their philosophy on Disney Trips? “Each trip is completely different, like visiting Walt Disney World for the first time.” They both enjoy all that Disney has to offer, but enjoy Animal Kingdom and EPCOT the most. It is their goal that everyone who visits Walt Disney World has a magical trip with lots of memories to last a life time.
