Planning the Perfect Disney Date Night

Happy Valentine’s Day! This time of year always gets me thinking about all the romantic things to do around Walt Disney World. There are many hidden treasures and places that make it a perfect get away for just the two of you!

Hotels: Many of the Deluxe and Moderate hotels have secluded bar areas and out of the way places for private conversations. Walking around the many pathways can be very private and quiet – letting you forget the thousands of people not too far away at the parks. Wilderness Lodge, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Yacht & Beach Club and even Boardwalk offer meandering pathways. Even the Value hotels have their share of pathways that take you thru lush gardens.

Animal Kingdom: I know walking around any one of the 4 parks does not seem romantic, but who says you have to follow the crowds? The pathways through the Maharajah Jungle Trek, the Oasis Exhibits and the Pangani Forest Exploration Trails can be quiet and somewhat secluded. They are all walking trails to take at your own pace. You can find a bench somewhere to watch the wildlife or have a quiet talk or just take in the atmosphere. Try the Dawa Bar for someplace to grab that refreshing drink.

Magic Kingdom: Yes, there are even some quiet places here. Tom Sawyer Island can be very cool with all the trees and there are plenty of paths to follow – it does close at dusk though. Try the rose garden just before crossing over into Tomorrowland. Or the umbrella covered tables behind The Plaza Restaurant (this is a smoking area, so pick your times carefully).

Disney Hollywood Studios: A lovely dinner at the outside tables at the Hollywood Brown Derby would be a great place to start a romantic evening. Stroll on down to ride Tower of Terror where you can hold your honey for dear life as you drop. Take the time to stay at this park after closing too, as one of my favorite things to do is to just sit on a bench as the crowds clear out and listen to the “retro” music at this park. It’s a lovely way to end the evening!

Epcot: Of course this is my favorite, simply because of World Showcase. There are quiet and more secluded areas in almost every pavilion around the Lagoon. Mexico has La Cava del Tequila. You can try a stop in the Stave Church Gallery in Norway, a trip to China in Reflections of China, or grab a German beer and sit on a bench overlooking the lagoon. Don’t forget the patio beside the gondolas in Italy, or you can wander through the American Heritage Gallery in America. The tables behind the Katsura Grill in Japan are a great spot, or you can visit the shops in Morocco, grab a glass of wine in Les Vins de France, meander through the gardens in United Kingdom, and then finish with a Canadian beer while watching the waterfalls back by O’Canada.

Disney Springs: Disney Springs has tons of dining options that are perfect for a romantic date night. Consider the Edison or Morimoto’s for a lovely atmosphere in addition to the food. You can also just head in and ask to sit in the bar area: you can just get drinks or order off the main menu, but you don’t have the busy-ness of the dining room which can be quite nice!

Debbie and her husband live in Chattanooga, TN. They both are huge Disney fans and try to visit the most Magical Place on Earth at least once a year, if possible. They are enjoying taking each of their now 10 grandchildren and hope to also take their great granddaughter in the near future. One of their favorite trips has been visiting Disney with adults only, including one trip when their son proposed to his girlfriend. Each trip begins with the planning, which can take up to a year, beginning with how to get the grandkids excited about their upcoming trip. They have surprised some of them the day before they left, while the latest one had “presents” every 10 days starting at 90 days all leading up to an exciting trip with her parents along also. Their philosophy on Disney Trips? “Each trip is completely different, like visiting Walt Disney World for the first time.” They both enjoy all that Disney has to offer, but enjoy Animal Kingdom and EPCOT the most. It is their goal that everyone who visits Walt Disney World has a magical trip with lots of memories to last a life time.
