Exploring Disney: In Search of the Yeti on the Forbidden Mountain

Have you ever wanted to ride to the top of a snow covered Mount Everest high above the Tibetan countryside, up to the Forbidden Mountain? If so, here is your chance. Will you be part of the expedition to make a safe return or will you be forever lost to the clutches of the Yeti, the legendary snow monster of which so many tales have been written?

These questions – and more – will be in your mind as your expedition car heads straight up the side of the mountain and as you pick up speed going through total darkness to reach the very top. But wait! What happened to the track? And there by the broken track – is that the REAL legendary snow monster, Yeti? It looks like he has ripped the track apart! Suddenly your car starts backward, back into the mountain, into the deep darkness of the caverns below. Can you make back to Tibet or will you become yet another casualty of the Yeti!?

Expedition Everest is a fast ride, and for much the ride, in total darkness. Between this, the loud noises, and scary creatures this attraction may not be suitable for young guests. Everyone who rides must be over 44” tall, should be free of back issues, and not pregnant.

Will you love it? Our 8-year old granddaughter rode this 3 times in a row and loved it! While I have ridden it, this is definitely more of a “coaster fan’s” ride! But if you want to experience the fascinating queue in the Tibetan village, with stores full of provisions for your trip, feel free to get in line and then use the “chicken” exit before getting on the train.

Debbie and her husband live in Chattanooga, TN. They both are huge Disney fans and try to visit the most Magical Place on Earth at least once a year, if possible. They are enjoying taking each of their now 10 grandchildren and hope to also take their great granddaughter in the near future. One of their favorite trips has been visiting Disney with adults only, including one trip when their son proposed to his girlfriend. Each trip begins with the planning, which can take up to a year, beginning with how to get the grandkids excited about their upcoming trip. They have surprised some of them the day before they left, while the latest one had “presents” every 10 days starting at 90 days all leading up to an exciting trip with her parents along also. Their philosophy on Disney Trips? “Each trip is completely different, like visiting Walt Disney World for the first time.” They both enjoy all that Disney has to offer, but enjoy Animal Kingdom and EPCOT the most. It is their goal that everyone who visits Walt Disney World has a magical trip with lots of memories to last a life time.
