Walt Disney World Resorts for Large(r) Families

Larger families often know the difficulties of finding accommodations when most hotel rooms are designed to accommodate a maximum of four people. Walt Disney World offers nearly two dozen hotels with a variety of accommodation styles at different price points, and there are many options for guests staying with five or more people.

Family Suites

First of all, there are resorts that have family suite options which typically accommodate up to 6 guests (over age 3). One of the most popular options is the fun themed family suites available at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. Not only are they colorful and themed to popular films such as Cars and The Lion King, but they also have extra space and amenities for families. The suites have a separate bedroom with a queen-size bed, two full bathrooms, a kitchenette, and two double beds (one Murphy bed and one sleeper sofa). There are also similar family suites available at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort.

The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort

For guests wanting more space inside as well as outside, and who are looking for amenities such as a full kitchen, the Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort are a great choice. These stand-alone cabins can sleep up to 6 guests with a separate bedroom with a queen bed and bunk bed, as well as a double sleeper sofa in the living space. The cabins also come with a fully equipped kitchen for guests that may want to prepare some of their own meals.

Rooms with Day Beds/Pull-Down Beds

Many standard rooms at Walt Disney World’s moderate and deluxe resorts have sleeping accommodations for families of 5 traveling with children. Moderate resorts such as Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside have child-size pull-down beds that allow a number of the resort’s standard rooms to sleep 5 guests. Many deluxe resorts, such as Disney’s Contemporary Resort, also have fold-out day beds or sleeper chairs, allowing those rooms to also sleep 5 guests over age 3.

Connecting Rooms

All Walt Disney World Resort hotels have some options for connecting rooms, meaning that they are joined by another door between the two rooms. This can be a great option for guests with larger families, since it provides double the space and also gives the option of two bathrooms. It is important to note however that connecting rooms must be requested and are not guaranteed in most cases.

Deluxe Villa Options

For larger families as well as those with more than 6 guests who would like to stay in the same space, the Deluxe Villa resorts offer one, two and three bedroom options, and some of these can sleep up to 8 or 9 guests. Deluxe Villas (other than studios) feature a full kitchen, at least one and a half baths, living/dining areas as well as an in-room laundry.
