Walt Disney World Resort Options for Larger Families.

Not all families that visit Walt Disney World have 4 or less people. Many have 5 or more, which brings us to the question: Where is the best place to stay with larger families? Happily, Disney offers a number of options for just this type of situation.

One very popular choice is in a family suite. These are available at Art of Animation and All-Star Music, and a few deluxe hotels have a limited number as well. As with anything, there are pros and cons to this option:

Pros – They have kitchenette with a (small) frig, microwave, and coffee pot. This does make it nice for day breaks, breakfast in the room or even late night snacking when back at the hotel. In addition, there are 2 full bathrooms to help with getting ready in the morning or evening showers. There is a separate bedroom for parents, and then the table and the sofa pull out so the suites can easily sleep 6.

Cons – The living/sleeping area is great for kids, but for 2 teens or adults, it may not be super be comfortable for lengthy stays. And while the kitchenette is nice, if you aren’t planning to eat in your room, you may be paying for something you don’t need. Also, keep in mind that there is a lack of privacy with only the one bedroom if you have 2 couples rather than one family.

Now family suites are not the only option for larger families. You can book 2 rooms which is often (depending on available discounts) less expensive than a family suite, however 2 rooms can’t be guaranteed to be connecting (unless you have more kids than parents), so that is always something to keep in mind.

In addition to family suites, there are other options that will accommodate 5 + in the room. A few are:

  • Port Orleans Resort – Riverside and Caribbean Beach both have rooms with 2 queen beds and 1 child size sleeper
  • The Cabins at Fort Wilderness has a queen bed, bunk bed and a double-size sleep sofa
  • Disney’s Beach Club Resort has deluxe rooms to sleep up to 5 adults
  • Polynesian Village Resort has rooms with 2 queen beds and a day bed to sleep 5 adults
  • Grand Floridian Resort has rooms with 2 queen beds and a daybed or sleeper.

Lastly, the Deluxe Villa resorts all have a variety of villa sizes ranging from studios that will sleep 4-5, to one bedroom, 2 bedroom and grand (3 bedroom) villas that can accommodate up to 12.

Whether you have a larger family or you are traveling with several families, there are a variety of options for you at Walt Disney World resort hotels. Now all you have to do is decide what is best for your family!

Debbie and her husband live in Chattanooga, TN. They both are huge Disney fans and try to visit the most Magical Place on Earth at least once a year, if possible. They are enjoying taking each of their now 10 grandchildren and hope to also take their great granddaughter in the near future. One of their favorite trips has been visiting Disney with adults only, including one trip when their son proposed to his girlfriend. Each trip begins with the planning, which can take up to a year, beginning with how to get the grandkids excited about their upcoming trip. They have surprised some of them the day before they left, while the latest one had “presents” every 10 days starting at 90 days all leading up to an exciting trip with her parents along also. Their philosophy on Disney Trips? “Each trip is completely different, like visiting Walt Disney World for the first time.” They both enjoy all that Disney has to offer, but enjoy Animal Kingdom and EPCOT the most. It is their goal that everyone who visits Walt Disney World has a magical trip with lots of memories to last a life time.
