Eating Around the World at EPCOT’s Food and Wine Festival

While there are many, many things I love about Disney World, EPCOT’s yearly Food and Wine Festival is probably in my top five favorite things to do. Because really, who wouldn’t love to eat (and drink) your way around the “world”?

This year’s festival has already begun so you still have plenty of time to experience all the deliciousness before it ends in November.  If you will be visiting the Food and Wine Festival for the first time this year, here are a few tips to help you navigate it all.

First, start by picking up these three items:

  • The week’s Festival Guide that will list the times of all of the events while you are there. Many are at no additional charge and are fun and fascinating ways to learn more about cooking, and/or great wines and beers.
  • A Passport that lists every item at every kiosk. Look over them all to plan your choices and then check them off when you try each one.
  • A Food and Wine gift card. These are re-loadable cards that you can use to pay for your food items – and using one is a great way to keep this affordable! Because believe me, it’s not hard to get carried away with wanting to try everything! So get a gift card, budget what you want to spend and then pace yourself – your wallet….and waistline will thank you!

Now that you have the essentials, it’s time to make your plans for what foods/wine you want to try. Even better, have each person in your group try something different from each kiosk and then share! You’ll get to try more things that way and it’s so much fun to compare with everyone. (This is an especially good way to get out of your “food comfort zone” and try some new things that you would never try on your own!)

You will find SO many delicious items to try, with favorites that return year after year, along with new savory foods to enjoy. And since a picture is always worth a thousand words, following are some of my favorites from previous festivals:

Mongolian Beef in a Steamed Bun with Chili Mayo: China Kiosk

Kalua Pork Slider with Sweet and Sour Dole: Hawaii Kiosk

Roasted Pork Lettuce Wrap with Kimchi Slaw: South Korea Kiosk

And of course there is always room for desserts!

Chocolate Covered Cannoli filled with Sweet Ricotta, Chocolate and Candied Fruit: Italy Kiosk

Sea Salt Caramel Creme Brulee with Caramelized Sugar: France Kiosk

Of course, if you can’t make up your mind on which dessert to try….then get a sampler to try more than one! 😉

“Dessert Trio” – Passion Fruit Coconut Creamsicle, Blueberry Lime Cheesecake Roll, Chocolate Espresso Opera Cake: Desserts and Champagne Kiosk

If you have never visited Walt Disney World during the Food and Wine Festival, put this on your Disney Bucket List. Because every year, Disney proves that this is truly the “most delicious time of the year”! 🙂
