Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened to Guests at the end of May and starting tomorrow, will welcome star travelers from all around the galaxy to the planet Batuu in Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World. In the past few weeks we checked out Oga’s Cantina, a super-cool hangout at Black Spire Outpost and learned how to build a light saber at Savi’s Workshop. Today we are visiting another fascinating and fun experience in Galaxy’s Edge – the Droid Depot!
Droid Depot is a workshop that is stocked with parts, chips, manuals and other tech items useful for constructing your very own droid, one of the galaxy’s most indispensable sidekicks. And with just a little help, you can create one of your very own droids!
When you arrive, you’ll choose if you want to create a BB-series unit or R-series unit, after which you will receive a basket and blueprint for parts. Then comes the fun as you begin your droid-building experience. First you will select the parts that your droid will need and will be able to customize along the way so that your droid will be uniquely yours! Once you have chosen your parts as they roll by on the shop’s conveyor belt, you’ll follow the simple instructions to put everything together. Last, but definitely not least, your droid will be paired with a remote control and activated as you watch it come to life!
There are a few things to know about building your droid:
- The cost is $99.99 per astromech droid unit, plus tax
- Various personality-affiliation chips and other accessories are available for an additional charge
- Age Recommendation: 3+
- The experience area is limited to the builder and one Guest—at least one person in the party must be age 14 or older
