Disney with Kids: The LEGO Store

No trip to Walt Disney World would be complete (at least not for my kids) without a trip to Disney Springs and more specifically, a trip to The LEGO Store. The store is located in the Marketplace near the massive, can’t-miss World of Disney Store. Sure, we have The LEGO Store in our local mall in Indianapolis, so what’s so special about The LEGO Store at Disney Springs? Everything!

Some of our favorite things to check out are the larger-than-life Disney characters built out of, you guessed it, LEGO bricks! These are museum quality creations that never cease to amaze. From the dragon in the water across from the store to the huge Maleficent breathing fire and everything in between, admiring these creations and seeing what’s new is a highlight of our time at Disney Springs each time we visit. Mom tip: These character creations make for great photo opportunities.

There is a large, shaded area just outside of the store entrance with large, low tables full of LEGO bricks where kids can play for free and for as long as they want (or as long as their parents allow). There’s also a race track where kids (and kids at heart) can build and race cars against one another. Mom tip: while the kids and their dad are playing and creating, I like to slip off to Joffrey’s near by for a delicious iced coffee!

Inside the (very) large retail store, you will find more huge LEGO characters as well as wall to wall LEGO sets, minifigures, key chains, create-your-own minifigures, fill-your-own-container options, personalized LEGO coffee mugs, and so much more. We’ve spent lots of time in the store just looking. Budget tip: If you’re making a purchase over $50 be sure to use your Disney Visa by Chase and save 10% off the entire purchase price.

As all LEGO stores do, there are special events and promotions from time to time and you may want to check to see what they’ve got going on (often they have a free or cheap LEGO item included with a minimum purchase). For their 20th anniversary in October-Novemer 2017, some of the master builders who worked on the life sized creations were present and guests were able to watch and even help them build Star Wars sculptures.

There’s always something fun going on at the LEGO Store in Disney Springs!

Candice was raised in east Tennessee. While in college, her best friend dragged her to a Walt Disney World College Program recruiting session at the University of Tennessee and the rest is Disney history. In the Fall of 1999, Candice became a quick service food hostess for Sunset Ranch Market and Fantasmic at Disney-MGM Studios – or what is now known as Disney’s Hollywood Studios. While soaking up her time as a cast member, she met Ryan, a neighbor and a fellow college programmer who worked as a custodial host at Epcot. Four years later, Candice moved to the Midwest and married that boy from across the hall. They now live in Greenwood, Indiana with their two little boys. The Disney-loving foursome took their first family trip to The Happiest Place on Earth in 2013 and Candice is eagerly planning their return. Candice also works full-time at a community mental health center and enjoys taking photographs and blogging at Mommy in the Midwest.
