Wordless Wednesday: O Canada!

If you’re wandering around World Showcase, one country you shouldn’t miss is Canada. Yes they have a great restaurant (Le Cellier) but they also have some fun shops, a waterfall, interesting totem poles, plus a very cool movie (in CircleVision 360) about our friendly neighbors to the north. Be sure to plan some time to explore this area!

Karen grew up in the Boston area and traveled to Disney World many times with her parents and sister. Always staying at the Fort Wilderness Cabins gave the trips a feeling of a home away from home. It also started the tradition of attending the Hoop Dee Doo Review on each trip! Somehow that show sparked her interest in the Disney College Program. Which she did in the fall of 2002, working as a hostess @ Captain Jacks in Downtown Disney. Now as an adult, Karen finds herself traveling to the parks on a yearly basis! Photography has always been a hobby of Karen’s, but over the past few years it has become her passion. It’s even taken her to her favorite place! The Make a Wish Foundation sent a family to Disney for a week and Karen was lucky enough to be their photographer of choice! She got to tag along and photograph their memories being made. She hopes to get that experience again someday!

Going to Walt Disney World is like Going Home! Going Home to the place that makes you feel happy and content with your life, regardless of what else is going on at work or where you live.” Read more

Disney with Little Ones: The Long Drive Ahead

Some people love a road trip and look forward to finding joy in the adventure of the journey. Friends, I am not one of those people. When I am driving, I’ve got the pedal to the metal, my eye on the prize, and don’t even think about asking me to stop unless it’s a dire emergency. I want to make good time and traffic jams make me crazy and anxious. I just want to get it over with. I have always enjoyed flying and marvel at our modern ability to travel such a great distance in such a short time. Well…airfare for our fall trip down to Florida (a Royal Caribbean cruise this time, booked through our friend Nancy here at The Affordable Mouse) was out of control. As much as I like flying, I like saving money more so we made the painful decision to drive down to Port Canaveral.

Disney Vacation Planning: Rider Swap

Have you ever wanted to go on some ride but your children didn’t?  It happens, it happens everywhere including the happiest place on Earth.  Disney is no exception for having rides that children may not want to go on (or unable to go on….think height requirements).  Happily, there is a solution to that problem, so that if your little one doesn’t want to go on the ride it doesn’t mean that one of the adults has to miss out anymore.  Just do a child swap! Thrifty Thursday: Taking a Non Park Day

The parks at Walt Disney World are, for good reason, the focus of a Disney vacation, but going at full speed through your whole trip might mean that you’ll be worn out by the last day. Building a day off from the parks into your trip is often a good idea, particularly if you have children in your group and you’re staying for around a week or longer. You don’t have to buy park tickets for every day of your trip, so consider taking a day off at a more relaxing pace….it’s a great way to get more out of your Disney vacation dollars. Here are some ideas for planning a non-park day. Read more
