When traveling to Disney World with small children, you need lots of stuff.  You can use a large bag, or everyone can have their own separate bag. There are pros and cons to each, but one thing to keep in mind is don’t overfill! One mistake we made was cramming too many items into the kids’ bags. Everything we needed always ended up at the bottom of the bag, so the contents would erupt like a volcano all over Main Street as we frantically searched for that squished granola bar, simultaneously picking size 2T underwear up off the ground.  Read more

Thrifty Thursday: Making the Magic Last

As a little girl, I spent many days at my grandmother’s house. Some of my fondest memories are of us, snuggled together on the couch, looking through her old photo albums.  I loved slowly turning the pages as she told me stories about the people in the pictures – all the way from the early 1900s up to when I was just a baby.  I am guilty of failing to print pictures or make photo albums in this digital, fast-paced age.  The ability to savor our family memories is a gift I want to give my children, minus the burden of having to convert data from one format to another or tediously sort through hundreds of thousands of photo files.  Read more

Disney World with Little Ones: Saving For a Disney Vacation

My husband and I generally stick to a budget, not only to manage our day-to-day spending, but also to save for other goals. Retirement.  College for our little boys.  Home improvements.  The list goes on.  Saving for vacations, and Disney vacations in particular, are a priority in our finances.
