Exploring Disney: Mickey’s PhilharMagic

Several years ago, I begged my hubby to see Mickey’s PhilarMagic on our Disney vacation. He hesitated, as he wasn’t keen on watching a show, he is generally more of a ride person. Finally though, near the end of our Magic Kingdom adventures, he finally gave in.  And as a HUGE Donald Duck fan, boy was he surprised – I didn’t give anything away about Donald beforehand! Have a Holly Jolly Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

The first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (or MVMCP) of the year is tonight, ringing in the Disney Holiday Season. Held at the Magic Kingdom on select nights through December 22, this is a festive and fun way to celebrate the holidays. With the chance to see magical fireworks, a parade and live shows, plus carolers, special characters, “snow” on Main Street and all the cookies and hot chocolate you want, it’s easy to see why this is a great way to get into the holiday spirit. A “hard ticket” event, MVMCP is not included as part of regular park ticket admission however, so if you want to attend, you will need to pay extra. Read more

Exploring Disney: Riding Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Magic Kingdom is home to four great mountains –  Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is a “mountain” of sorts, along with the classics Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.  While I like them all, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will always hold a special place in my heart.  This was the first roller coaster I ever went on, way back in the day.  When you board your train car, they tell you to hold tight for the “Wildest Ride in the Wilderness”, and a wild ride is definitely what you get.
