As many times as I have visited Walt Disney World, I will never cease to be amazed at how you can easily enter a new world….or part of the world…..simply by visiting new sections of a theme park, or a resort hotel. I think the hotels especially are fabulous ways to pretty much forget you’re in Florida. Take Coronado Springs Resort for example. Are you *sure* you’re not actually in the Southwestern United States? Read more

Wordless Wednesday: Exploring Animal Kingdom Lodge
I am a big fan of taking time to visit the Disney resorts. They are fascinating and fun to check out, with many having activities – to say nothing of great food – that are available to anyone, not just the resort Guests. Two of the best resorts to explore are Animal Kingdom Lodge and it’s sister resort, Kidani Village. Both are LOVELY, filled with lots of beautiful African art and design elements. They both have fabulous restaurants too! But the highlight of course, are the animals. You can observe them from many locations around the resorts, and taking the time to wander around the peaceful paths that surround the hotel, will give you a chance to learn a few things too. Fun AND learning. What a great combination! Read more
Thrifty Thursday: Taking a Non Park Day
The parks at Walt Disney World are, for good reason, the focus of a Disney vacation, but going at full speed through your whole trip might mean that you’ll be worn out by the last day. Building a day off from the parks into your trip is often a good idea, particularly if you have children in your group and you’re staying for around a week or longer. You don’t have to buy park tickets for every day of your trip, so consider taking a day off at a more relaxing pace….it’s a great way to get more out of your Disney vacation dollars. Here are some ideas for planning a non-park day. Read more

Karen grew up in the Boston area and traveled to Disney World many times with her parents and sister. Always staying at the Fort Wilderness Cabins gave the trips a feeling of a home away from home. It also started the tradition of attending the Hoop Dee Doo Review on each trip! Somehow that show sparked her interest in the Disney College Program. Which she did in the fall of 2002, working as a hostess @ Captain Jacks in Downtown Disney. Now as an adult, Karen finds herself traveling to the parks on a yearly basis! Photography has always been a hobby of Karen’s, but over the past few years it has become her passion. It’s even taken her to her favorite place! The Make a Wish Foundation sent a family to Disney for a week and Karen was lucky enough to be their photographer of choice! She got to tag along and photograph their memories being made. She hopes to get that experience again someday! You can find more of Karen’s photography on her site www.KPportraits.com.
