Terrific Tuesdays: All Star Movies Resort

This recent trip was no exception. We had originally booked at Pop Century, but when some discounts came available, it was easy to make the switch to All Star Movies for a better savings.  Read more

Wordless Wednesday: Nighttime Pop

Pop Century is a fun hotel and one of the most popular resorts at Walt Disney World. Filled with bright colors and lots of cool design details, this value resort takes on an entirely different look at night!

Find out how the FREE services of a Disney World travel agent can make planning your Disney vacation simple and stress free!

Karen grew up in the Boston area and traveled to Disney World many times with her parents and sister. Always staying at the Fort Wilderness Cabins gave the trips a feeling of a home away from home. It also started the tradition of attending the Hoop Dee Doo Review on each trip! Somehow that show sparked her interest in the Disney College Program. Which she did in the fall of 2002, working as a hostess @ Captain Jacks in Downtown Disney. Now as an adult, Karen finds herself traveling to the parks on a yearly basis! Photography has always been a hobby of Karen’s, but over the past few years it has become her passion. It’s even taken her to her favorite place! The Make a Wish Foundation sent a family to Disney for a week and Karen was lucky enough to be their photographer of choice! She got to tag along and photograph their memories being made. She hopes to get that experience again someday! You can find more of Karen’s photography on her site www.KPportraits.com.

Disney Vacation Tips: Staying in the Magic

As I have said many times before, the magic of Disney lives on property – all over the property; and you can only experience the magic 24/7 if you are staying at an on-property resort. I know that if you are planning your very first visit you might be thinking that you will have to stay off property in order to be able to afford the trip. I want to talk today about all the free extras that make Disney resorts worth looking into. Read more

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge: Toto, We’re Not in Florida Anymore

When people ask me which Disney resort is my favorite, I usually hesitate giving the answer because I love so many of them for so many different reasons. I love the Epcot resorts because of their location and love Animal Kingdom Lodge because of the peace and serenity. I love Caribbean Beach because it is just so fun, and makes me think I am in the Caribbean!

But all things being equal, for a beautiful resort with amazing theming, I vote for Wilderness Lodge as my true favorite. It is an amazing depiction of a traditional Pacific Northwest lodge that is so successful in this effort that if you visit, you WILL forget you are in Florida. Even in the middle of the summer. 🙂 Read more

Disney’s All Star Sports: Hang Ten Disney Dudes!

Disney ResortsPhoto via: http://www.flickr.com/photos/frikitiki/2852686004/

Before I get stated, I would like to apologize to those who love All-Star Sports.  Don’t get me wrong: I like many parts of this resort but while I do enjoy sports, this resort just isn’t my favorite among all the choices available.  As the name implies, this resort is themed with the sport enthusiast and athlete in mind. There are open areas for practicing routines and really getting into a sports-mindset!  In fact I remember one morning starting quite early with cheerleaders practicing outside our door.  This resort attracts many sport groups from around the country such as cheerleaders, dance teams, soccer and baseball players, etc.

Several years back (ok a lot of years – she’s 31 this year), we took our 18 year old daughter and a girlfriend of hers for their first adult trip.  We booked an All-Star Sports room for them while we stayed in the French Quarter.  They were on their own so they had to get themselves up the morning, figure out food for the day (we supplied $20 each every day for them to eat on), keep up with their room keys and park passes.  I had purposely booked Sports thinking the girls would enjoy being around people closer to their age. But it turns out that neither of the girls were sport enthusiasts and there were more families with a little younger age group.  In looking back I can see the reason why, with the football field, the more open areas bright colors, the younger generations really enjoy it!
