Exploring Disney: The Galaxy Awaits on Millennium Falcon – Smuggler’s Run

I hear you. You’re not a huge Star Wars fan, and you don’t know a wookie from an ewok. And that’s ok, because whether you love everything about Star Wars and literally can’t wait to experience a galaxy far, far away, or you’re kind of “meh” about the entire thing – the new Galaxy’s Edge part of Disney’s Hollywood Studios is super cool, even for non-fans. And the Millennium Falcon – Smuggler’s Run, is one of the best parts.

While I have seen most of the Star Wars movies, they aren’t really my thing – but my family loves Star Wars, so there was no question on our last trip, we were going to ride the Millennium Falcon in Galaxy’s Edge. And to my surprise, afterwards, I was hooked! Maybe not enough that I know all the characters now, but enough that I was so fascinated by the queue area and seeing the Millennium Falcon sitting out front, that I must have taken hundreds of pictures.

You really do want to take special note of the detail in everything – not just on this ride, but throughout Galaxy’s Edge – even the piping shows signs of leaks around the joints. The attention to detail that the Imagineers put into all aspects of this ride, and area, is truly amazing.

Once you enter the staging area of the Millennium Falcon, you must decide if you want to pilot the ship, be an engineer or a gunner (or those roles may possibly be assigned to you). There will be 2 for each position and every position is just as important as the next. And your mission? Be prepared to smuggle some key items to a special clientele. Will you succeed or fail? Don’t forget to keep your eye on the sky ahead and be ready for your instruction. Everyone working together will get you through and accomplish your mission!

When we rode, during the pandemic, only your party would be in each ship, but in a normal scenario, all seats will be filled with other Guests besides your family. You must be at least 38” tall to ride and free of health issues in order to experience the Millennium Falcon.

I enjoyed this so much, we rode again and changed up our roles to experience it differently. This attraction is well worth the wait in the queue.  And by the way – the picture just above was taken while on our mission.

May the Force be With You!

Debbie and her husband live in Chattanooga, TN. They both are huge Disney fans and try to visit the most Magical Place on Earth at least once a year, if possible. They are enjoying taking each of their now 10 grandchildren and hope to also take their great granddaughter in the near future. One of their favorite trips has been visiting Disney with adults only, including one trip when their son proposed to his girlfriend. Each trip begins with the planning, which can take up to a year, beginning with how to get the grandkids excited about their upcoming trip. They have surprised some of them the day before they left, while the latest one had “presents” every 10 days starting at 90 days all leading up to an exciting trip with her parents along also. Their philosophy on Disney Trips? “Each trip is completely different, like visiting Walt Disney World for the first time.” They both enjoy all that Disney has to offer, but enjoy Animal Kingdom and EPCOT the most. It is their goal that everyone who visits Walt Disney World has a magical trip with lots of memories to last a life time.
