Exploring Disney: Maharajah Jungle Trek

Imagine transporting yourself into the wilds of Asia and discovering ancient ruins, wild tigers, waterfalls and a palace standing still in time – you can do all of this when you enter the Maharajah Jungle Trek at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

This self-guided tour immerses you fully into what truly feels like a mystical trek through jungles, forests, and a lush tropical paradise. The meandering pathways remind you of the worn pathways created by years and years of travel from one area to another. But not to worry, this meandering path is easily traveled by wheelchairs, strollers, and by those who are just walking. The paths are wide and mostly shaded, which is a cool and welcome relief from the Florida sun. I actually find this attraction to be one of my favorite cool down and relax areas. And there’s no need to hurry because there is seating along the way, so you can take this as quickly or as leisurely as you want.

Of course, you’ll encounter some animal friends along your trek –  Asian tigers, elds deer, komodo dragons, flying foxes and water buffalo all call this area home. And if you have questions, there are cast members along the way to answer any questions you may have. They are very informative about the animals they are near, so feel free to ask as many questions as you like.

The Maharajah Jungle Trek is for all ages and has no restrictions. The next time you are in Asia (at Disney’s Animal Kingdom that is), be sure to make time to explore the pathways and peaceful atmosphere along the Maharajah Jungle Trek.

Debbie and her husband live in Chattanooga, TN. They both are huge Disney fans and try to visit the most Magical Place on Earth at least once a year, if possible. They are enjoying taking each of their now 10 grandchildren and hope to also take their great granddaughter in the near future. One of their favorite trips has been visiting Disney with adults only, including one trip when their son proposed to his girlfriend. Each trip begins with the planning, which can take up to a year, beginning with how to get the grandkids excited about their upcoming trip. They have surprised some of them the day before they left, while the latest one had “presents” every 10 days starting at 90 days all leading up to an exciting trip with her parents along also. Their philosophy on Disney Trips? “Each trip is completely different, like visiting Walt Disney World for the first time.” They both enjoy all that Disney has to offer, but enjoy Animal Kingdom and EPCOT the most. It is their goal that everyone who visits Walt Disney World has a magical trip with lots of memories to last a life time.
