Exploring Disney: Discover Pandora on the Na’vi River Journey

Our first experience in Pandora – The World of Avatar in Disney’s Animal Kingdom was the Na’vi River Journey. As neither my husband nor I were familiar with Avatar, the movie this “land” was based on, we weren’t quite sure what to expect. What we found as we entered the attraction was a mystical area, so unlike anything we had experienced before anywhere at Walt Disney World.

This is a slow moving boat ride that carries visitors to Pandora through a series of caves and into the bioluminescent rainforest – and it was truly enchanting. To say that it was almost sensory overload would be an understatement. The sights (and sounds!) of all the exotic plants (and creatures!) was simply breath-taking. You certainly do not need to know what the movie Avatar was about to appreciate the beauty of the “land” that you are visiting – it’s evident that this is unlike anything we have seen on planet Earth!

Toward the end of the ride you will join the Na’vi Shaman of Songs, who demonstrates how deep the connection is to the life force of Pandora. The power of her music sends positive energy out into the forest and to all who hear her.

The Na’vi River Journey is a great attraction for all ages. While there are no height restrictions for little people, Guests with disabilities should be aware that you must be able to transfer to the boats. The sights, colors and sounds all around you on this ride will entertain even the youngest ones, and you truly do not need to have seen the movie Avatar to appreciate this lovely attraction. As an added bonus, Na’vi River Journey is indoors, so it is perfect for those hot Florida days.

Debbie and her husband live in Chattanooga, TN. They both are huge Disney fans and try to visit the most Magical Place on Earth at least once a year, if possible. They are enjoying taking each of their now 10 grandchildren and hope to also take their great granddaughter in the near future. One of their favorite trips has been visiting Disney with adults only, including one trip when their son proposed to his girlfriend. Each trip begins with the planning, which can take up to a year, beginning with how to get the grandkids excited about their upcoming trip. They have surprised some of them the day before they left, while the latest one had “presents” every 10 days starting at 90 days all leading up to an exciting trip with her parents along also. Their philosophy on Disney Trips? “Each trip is completely different, like visiting Walt Disney World for the first time.” They both enjoy all that Disney has to offer, but enjoy Animal Kingdom and EPCOT the most. It is their goal that everyone who visits Walt Disney World has a magical trip with lots of memories to last a life time.
