Exploring Disney: Beaches and Cream Soda Shop

Dining at Disney World is a huge part of our trips, as we love trying new table service dining and quick service restaurants, or going back to some of our favorites that we’ve come to love over the years. Beaches and Cream Soda Shop at Disney’s Beach Club Resort is definitely one of those!

Normally, you have to have a reservation to dine there, but on our last trip, we happened to go mid-afternoon and they weren’t busy, so they let us come on in!!  It is an adorable, old-fashioned ice cream shop and soda fountain, decorated outside with cute ice cream cone tables and inside with beach balls on the booths and colorful borders on the wall.  You can also listen to “the oldies” on their awesome jukebox while you dine!

We chose to sit at the counter and were delighted when we got to watch the waitress make their famous Kitchen Sink Dessert. Wow! You’d better come hungry if you want to try one of those…and bring lots of hungry people with you to help you eat it!!  Made with 8 scoops of ice cream and covered in every topping that they have, it is a masterpiece to behold.

They have many other delicious ice cream desserts: Coke or Root Beer floats, milkshakes and malts as well as cakes, pies, brownies and grilled banana bread and peanut butter topped with a scoop of ice cream. We decided to save our dessert for last and go with one of their yummy American grill favorites. I chose their Grilled Cheese and Tomato Bisque and I was glad I did, as it was delicious!  My hubby chose the Angus Beef Cheese Burger and Fries and he thoroughly enjoyed every bite.  From Pork Belly Cuban Sandwiches to Hot Dogs to Salmon, Chicken or Turkey Sandwiches, there’s something for everyone to satisfy those hunger pangs!!

We were both so stuffed from our delicious lunch that we decided to share a Classic Banana Split for dessert. It was the perfect ending to a perfect meal.  Beaches and Cream Soda Shop is definitely on our favorites list. We can’t wait to go back!

Next time you are at Walt Disney World, if you are looking for a quaint, off the beaten path dining experience, we highly recommend trying this unique, boardwalk-style ice cream shop which overlooks Stormalong Bay, the 3-acre water park at Disney’s Beach Club Resort.  Enjoy!!

As Julie says: “I am addicted to all things Disney! 🙂 I grew up in Vernon, TX and now reside in Waller, TX (outside of Houston) on a small ranch with my hubby and all of our animals who we affectionately call “The Zoo Crew”! We have been married almost a year now (together for 7) and have 5 children and 9 grandchildren between the 2 of us. We knew we were meant for each other when we discovered we were both Disney fanatics! 🙂 I went to Disneyland for the first time when I was 6 and fell in love with the magic of Disney. Now, my husband and I go to Disney World every 2 years either with friends or with whichever kid and grandkid are available to go at the time. We spend a lot of time planning our trips to ensure that everyone has the most memorable time while there!”
