Disney with Kids: Personalized Christmas Ornaments

Like many others, our family has been busy over the past week decorating for Christmas and getting into the holiday spirit. Even though it was 100 degrees Fahrenheit when we last visited the Walt Disney World Resort in May and June, we made it a point to think about what we would be doing during this chillier and very merry time of year.

While visiting Disney Springs, we stopped at Disney’s Days of Christmas to peruse the endless selection of ornaments. There truly is something for everyone no matter your style of decor, from all of your favorite whimsical character figures to the classic and elegant globe-shaped glass ornaments. Many of the ornaments lend themselves to customization, which can be done right there in the shop. We had our ornament professionally personalized and sent back to our resort as the artist at work was quite busy that day.

The kids enjoyed picking out the style and color of lettering that would adorn our little gold Magic Lamp. We picked this ornament as a family because we’d just seen (and fell in love with) the live action Aladdin in the theater on opening night less than a week before our trip. At only $3 per word (or design element, depending on what you choose), customization is an affordable way to make your memories even more special.

Whenever we see our lamp ornament on the tree, we’ll recall wonderful memories surrounding the movie Aladdin, our 2019 Walt Disney World Resort vacation, and Christmas 2019 for years to come. It’s a symbol of good times we’ve had together and how Disney has the ability to bring us together, no matter what. We haven’t made a point to purchase an ornament every trip in the past but I think this might become a new tradition. So many magical memories are associated with both Christmas and Walt Disney World for our family, as I am sure is the case with many other families as well!

Candice was raised in east Tennessee. While in college, her best friend dragged her to a Walt Disney World College Program recruiting session at the University of Tennessee and the rest is Disney history.  In the Fall of 1999, Candice became a quick service food hostess for Sunset Ranch Market and Fantasmic at Disney-MGM Studios – or what is now known as Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  While soaking up her time as a cast member, she met Ryan, a neighbor and a fellow college programmer who worked as a custodial host at Epcot.  Four years later, Candice moved to the Midwest and married that boy from across the hall.  They now live in Greenwood, Indiana with their two little boys.  The Disney-loving foursome took their first family trip to The Happiest Place on Earth in 2013 and Candice is eagerly planning their return.  Candice also works full-time at a community mental health center and enjoys taking photographs and blogging at Mommy in the Midwest.
