What could be more magical than being at Disney World? Celebrating something special at Disney World, of course. December 29 is Tutu’s birthday, so in honor of her, I thought we’d talk about getting celebratory at Disney when you also have to manage your special needs. This isn’t just about birthdays. Anything is worth celebrating when you’re at Disney and we’ve done birthday, anniversary, and milestone trips. We’ve seen people celebrating everything from finishing school to getting a new job to finalizing a divorce. That last one might be the most depressing celebration, but if you’re going to celebrate, go for it at Disney!

Disney with Special Needs: That’s a Lot of Dessert

If you take even a brief tour of the Disney website you’ll find that there is something special that pops up fairly frequently — dessert parties. When I was first planning an adventure to Disney I only noticed two — what was then the Tomorrowland Terrace Wishes Fireworks Dessert Party and an Illuminations party. Since then, the number of parties available has exploded and virtually anywhere you are in the evening, there is a party getting ready to go.

So what are these parties and do they work for a family with special needs? Would a vegan, two super small eaters, two super big eaters, crowd-haters, and even a service dog find enough reasons to shell out the extra cash for these added experiences? Read more

Happy Fall, Y’all! Yes, it is July. However, it is after July 4, so therefore, it is autumn. Maybe not? Alright, so perhaps it isn’t quite fall yet, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t plenty of people whose thoughts have swung right on past the last several weeks of summer and are firmly dreaming of tumbling leaves, cuddly sweaters, and pumpkin spice EVERYTHING. I won’t lie, I kind of dream about this all the time. While last year that meant dreaming of spending my anniversary and Halloween at Disney, for many people that means one pretty fabulous event (and one that, incidentally, is going to start earlier this year than ever before), the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival.
