Universal Orlando On-Site Perks: Transportation

15235884_10154666996632488_5777447356635468420_oUniversal Orlando Resort has five lovely on-site hotels, with a sixth opening in 2018, and all of these hotels offer some great perks for guests visiting Universal Orlando’s theme parks. One of these perks is complimentary transportation to the theme parks and CityWalk.

Four of these on-site hotels offer water taxi service between the hotels and CityWalk. There’s a waterway that connects all of these hotels with the CityWalk area, and the water taxi stop in CityWalk is only a five-minute walk from each of the entrance for Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. Water taxis arrive about every 15 minutes, and they run from a half hour before the earliest park opening time (including Early Admission) and runs until 2:30AM, after CityWalk closes. Water taxis may stop operating during heavy winds or storms.

The only on-site hotel that doesn’t offer water taxi service is Cabana Bay Beach Resort, and they have a complimentary shuttle from the hotel to the parking lot entrance into CityWalk. The buses run for the same hours as the water taxis, and the actual driving time is about five minutes. Note that the CityWalk entrance from the parking lot is a longer walk from where you are dropped off until you’re at the park entrances, around 10 minutes or so. Universal’s upcoming sixth property, the Aventura Hotel, will also feature bus service for guests.

Another great mode of transportation from the on-site hotels is your own feet! Most of the hotels are within very easy walking distance of the park entrances. Sapphire Falls and Portofino Bay Hotel are about a 15-minute walk, Royal Pacific is about a 10-minute walk, and the Hard Rock Hotel is merely 5 minutes’ walk from CityWalk. Cabana Bay Beach Resort also has a walkable path, though it’s a bit longer at 20 minutes or more.

If you’d like to visit SeaWorld or Aquatica nearby, there are also complimentary scheduled shuttles available from Universal’s on-site hotels. Reservations are required for these, as space is limited – inquire at the Universal ticket desk at your hotel.
