DINOSAUR is by far, one of my favorite rides in Animal Kingdom. I put it on my “To-Do” list every time! This attraction is bumpy and it does jar you around so it isn’t recommended for those with back problems or if you are pregnant. However, I have found with the seat belts and holding on to the bar in front of me, it isn’t too bad!
This is a very informative and creative ride as you enter The Dino Institute. Hanging above the middle of the queue as you enter is a huge skeleton of the carnivorous Carnotaurus. He doesn’t look as scary as he was in the days when dinosaurs roamed the earth. This ride is normally not a long wait, but there is so much to see and read about as you make your way into the underground loading area, that sometimes I wish I had more time to walk slower!
Entering into the underground loading area, you will see the red, yellow and white large tubes running above you. Pay close attention to the symbols on the tubes – it is my understanding those are the scientific symbols for catsup, mustard and mayonnaise!
This ride originally started out as Countdown to Extinction, but was renamed after a short period to the DINOSAUR we know today. I’m not sure that much the ride actually changed with the new name, but I do know, I enjoy it as much today as I did in the past.
As you climb into your Time Rover don’t forget your pre-ride video briefing. Watch for the friendly iguanodon as you make your way past some less than friendly other dinosaurs! Did you make it out with your dinosaur as planned?
