Terrific Tuesdays: DINOSAUR

A trip to DinoLand USA isn’t complete without a ride on DINOSAUR! This was originally called Countdown to Extinction, but this fun ride is now known as DINOSAUR.

The remnants of McDonald’s are still seen overhead as you descend into the research control center to take your place in your time rover. You will notice the ducts of red, yellow and white: can you see the formulas written on them? Those are the formulas for catsup, mustard and mayo!

As you enter into The Dino Institute, the queue takes you past real fossils of dinosaurs that roamed the earth years and years ago. In the center, you will find the Carnotaurus, which is scary just looking at his bones.

You will board your land rover on a secret mission to bring back a larger than life dinosaur, but unfortunately, this mission will take you back to the era as a meteor will hit the earth. It is a race for time as you come upon dinosaur after dinosaur coming at you from various places, but you need to find the Iguanodon before you are totally wiped out! Will you make it!? Will you complete your mission? Hang on for your life!

This ride does have limits, since it is very bumpy, so people with back issues or pregnant should not ride. You must also be 40” or taller to ride. The last row is much bumpier than the front row, so feel free to make a request depending on which you want. Cast Members will try to accommodate you as much as they can.

I rode on this ride last December, but I don’t recall seeing the formulas for mayo and ketchup on the ducts. I was too focused on watching where I was going, especially on stairs, and climbing aboard the Time Rover. I wonder why you didn’t mention the pouches in front of you where you can stash your stuff while riding. Also, a camera will take a photo of you and other folks in your vehicle at some point, and you can buy that photo if you want (I passed on the photo op). Lastly, the ride ends up in-you guessed it–at a gift shop. I chose to spend my photo money on lapel pins and a soda before I went to my next activity: dinner at Tiffins.
