Disney Vacation Fun: Hollywood Studios Trivia

photo (1)This week we’re going to do some trivia from one of my favorite parks, Hollywood Studios. Hollywood Studios has a lot of great things going for it and lots of fascinating things to know. Here are a few of my favorites.

What was the original plan for Hollywood Studios?

It was originally going to be a pavilion in Epcot.  But once the Imagineers got started they realized they had too big of a vision for just a pavilion and turned it into a whole new park instead.

What came first the coaster or the building, when it comes to Rock N Roller Coaster?

Rock N Roller Coaster was originally an outdoor roller coaster.  The track was built and completed before they housed it inside and built the building around it.

How many speakers does it take to totally rock you on the Rock N Roller Coaster?

There are a total of 900 speakers throughout the coaster so you can here Aerosmith as if they were right there in the limo with you.

By the way have you ever taken a seat outside of Rock N Roller Coaster and heard the same song twice?

You never will, as there are 60 hours of recorded music that they pump through those speakers so you can’t hear the same song twice in one day.

What’s spooky about the Tower of Terror besides the bellhops, spider webs, dust and ghosts?

Ok so there are a lot of spooky things about the Tower of Terror, that’s part of what makes it awesome.  But what’s really spooky is that when they were building the tower it was actually struck by lightening.

On the Great Movie Ride who is wearing an actual piece of clothing used by the actual actor?

In the Western scene with John Wayne on his horse the audio animatronic is wearing a belt buckle worn by the actual John Wayne himself in one of his movies.

Why is it windy in the Fantasia section of the Great Movie Ride?

The original plan for this section was to replicate the tornado from the Wizard of Oz to take you to the following scene in Oz.  This was later scrapped because the creators of the Wizard of Oz wouldn’t agree to it.

Where can you find the second half of the plane from the Casablanca scene in the Great Movie Ride?

Where Disney took the front half of the plane to depict that famous scene on the Great Movie Ride, they didn’t want to waste the second half.  So instead the back half of the plane crash landed in Magic Kingdom on the Jungle Cruise.

What is so special about Mr. Potato Head in the queue for Toy Story Mania?

Mr. Potato Head took more time programming than any other audio animatronic created by the Disney imaginears.  But it doesn’t stop there.  He also is the first to detach and re-attach a piece of his figure; in this case he pulls off and replaces his ear.  He also has new technology in him that allows him to look directly at the guest he’s talking to.  He also has the most expressive mouth of all of the audio animatronics because he can form words and vowels.

Here’s your random trivia fact of the day:

How many pounds of laundry does the Disney World Resorts do in one day?

Around 300,000 pounds a day.  This would take you 27 years to do, if you only did two loads a day!

I’m sure you all have some trivia of your own for one of my favorite parks.  There is so much at Hollywood Studios that is different from the other parks which allows there to be different kinds of trivia.  We only have one more park left for next time.  Until then have faith and trust in tinsel town, and let Disney sprinkle you in the sparkling pixie dust of the stars.

Jess was born and raised on Long Island, New York but once college began so did her adventures. She’s lived in Florida, Wisconsin, and now South Carolina. Her family is part of the Disney Vacation Club and has been visiting since she was a little girl, and continuously goes every year. Besides being a big Disney fan she has also been a Disney Cast Member working in Magic Kingdom, and she counts it as one of the most magical experiences. She worked with everyone’s favorite elephant Dumbo, Cinderella’s Carousel, and Mickey’s Philharmagic. Jess has also visited Disneyland, Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, and gone on two Disney Cruises. She has so many great memories from Disney besides running half marathons and 5ks, birthday parties, and family reunions. If asked where she would want to go it is almost always Disney, and when asked why, it is almost always because she can eat awesome gluten free food! And it doesn’t hurt that there is always faith, trust, and pixie dust with magic in the air!
