Valentine’s Day is next week so let’s talk Disney romance! If you’re spending your Valentine’s Day in Disney or any other time of year there and want to do something romantic, you’re in luck! Yes Disney is the Wonderland for kids, and it’s a Neverland where grown ups go to become a kid again, but it can also be a Whole New World for those looking for romance as well. Like what I did there, Wonderland, Neverland, Whole New World, oh the cleverness of me. But back to the topic at hand. Romance at Walt Disney World is plentiful and sometimes may not even cost you a dime.
One romantic evening that wont cost anything is heading over to the Polynesian Resort and finding a nice hammock on the beach to snuggle in. From there you can watch and listen to both the water pageant on the Seven Seas Lagoon but also you can catch a glimpse of Wishes fireworks over the castle, without the crowds of Main Street. If you can skip the fireworks and pageant you can go for a moonlit walk at the Grand Floridian or Beach Club and find a garden swing to swing in. There are plenty of walking and running paths around the different resorts. If you’re at the Animal Kingdom Lodge take a walk and grab a rocking chair by the fire or on one of the observation decks and watch as the savannah goes through it’s night time routine.
Now if you’re willing to spend some money there’s the usual: flowers, chocolates, promises you don’t intend to keep…oops scratch the last part got caught up in Beauty and the Beast quotes. Now Disney Floral would love to help you surprise you loved one with a hand picked arrangement that you could enhance with any number of things such as chocolates, wine, and jewelry. They can decorate the room with rose petals as well. Or you can go a little outside of the box for your romantic surprise. You could arrange a spa treatment, or couples massage at any of the spas on site.
You could make a reservation at the California Grill at the top of the Contemporary resort and watch Wishes while overlooking Magic Kingdom and even have the music that goes along to it piped in through the speakers. You could really splurge and have dinner at Victoria & Albert’s. I have not done this although one day I hope to. If you have done it please share the experience so that I may live vicariously through you! For a little less expensive experience you could also enjoy High Tea with your sweetheart. There are specialty cruises that you can enjoy to see the fireworks sans crowds. Champagne is also known to be aboard. Both Fort Wilderness and Port Orleans offer twenty-five minute carriage rides around the resort.
During a trip to Disney you can make it as romantic as you want it with or without spending too much money. Anything you do at Disney can be romantic if you are with the one you love. Remember Disney is where dreams come true and that doesn’t mean you have to break the bank to accomplish a romantic evening. So to everyone out there I hope you have a happy Valentine’s Day but also tell the ones you love, that you love them on a regular basis. If it helps watch a classic Disney movie, and if they think you’re acting weird for telling them just tell them that “at last I see the light,” “so…this is love,” “can you feel the love tonight,” “it’s a tale as old as time,” or you could just kiss the girl. I wish you all faith and trust in your romanticism, and pixie dust to shower you and let new memories begin.
Jess was born and raised on Long Island, New York but once college began so did her adventures. She’s lived in Florida, Wisconsin, and now South Carolina. Her family is part of the Disney Vacation Club and has been visiting since she was a little girl, and continuously goes every year. Besides being a big Disney fan she has also been a Disney Cast Member working in Magic Kingdom, and she counts it as one of the most magical experiences. She worked with everyone’s favorite elephant Dumbo, Cinderella’s Carousel, and Mickey’s Philharmagic. Jess has also visited Disneyland, Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, and gone on two Disney Cruises. She has so many great memories from Disney besides running half marathons and 5ks, birthday parties, and family reunions. If asked where she would want to go it is almost always Disney, and when asked why, it is almost always because she can eat awesome gluten free food! And it doesn’t hurt that there is always faith, trust, and pixie dust with magic in the air!
