Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is one of the most popular hotels at Walt Disney World, and is the first resort to be themed entirely around some of Disney’s most loved animated classics. This resort is in the Value category of Walt Disney World’s three resort categories and is located in the ESPN Wide World of Sports area, just south of Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot. Across the nearby Hourglass Lake is Disney’s Pop Century Resort.
Undoubtedly one of the best things about this resort is the theme. Disney’s Art of Animation Resort has four different sections, each themed to a different Disney film: Finding Nemo, Cars, The Lion King, and The Little Mermaid. Each section has a wonderfully themed outdoor area, most including a pool, that almost feels like a mini-theme park for each film. Throughout the resort you can see how the process of animation inspired the theme, from the character concept art in the lobby to the larger-than-life animation scenes on the building exteriors.
The resort’s main pool is the Big Blue Pool in the Finding Nemo section, which is the closest to the resort’s main entrance building. It’s the largest hotel pool at Walt Disney World, and even has speakers playing Disney songs underwater. There are also smaller quiet pools in The Little Mermaid and Cars sections.
The rooms at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort are mainly made up of family suites that can sleep up to 6, which are perfect for larger families. These suites come with 2 bathrooms, a separate bedroom with a king bed, a pull-out sofa bed, and a pull-down bed. The pull-down bed is a table when the bed is in storage. These suites also have a kitchenette with a mini-fridge, sink, microwave, and coffee maker. The Finding Nemo, Lion King, and Cars areas are made up of family suites. The Little Mermaid area is made up of standard rooms with 2 double beds that can sleep up to 4.
