Terrific Tuesdays: Nighttime Epcot

No matter how many times you visit EPCOT, for me, seeing it at night is a whole new experience. Disney does such a great job changing the atmosphere from the day light hours to the night time hours. During the day, everything is visible, everything is bright and cheery, but at night things become cozier, more romantic, more exotic, more exciting. This is especially true at EPCOT, and as you see Space Ship Earth in the dark towering above the entrance glowing with such vivid lights, it just takes my breath away every time.

When you’re at EPCOT, especially in World Showcase, things come alive at night. Suddenly the pavilion in Canada is much more alive with the windows lit from inside and the Eiffel Tower in France looks so much grander lit up against the dark sky. The Aztec Temple in Mexico looks amazing as it stretches up to the sky and the Japanese toili gate sits in the lagoon glowing above the ink colored water. And let’s not forget The American Pavilion sitting at the center of everything, making it the most pronounced building as you gaze across World Showcase Lagoon, from Future World to World Showcase.

Future World also looks pretty special at night, with the centerpiece of Spaceship Earth. ImageWorks in front of theJourney into Imagination with Figment is very pretty with all the colors and is definitely a photo op to get at night!

Where is your favorite spot to see after dark in EPCOT? Do you like it better during the day or in the evening?

A favorite spot at night is at the World Showcase Lagoon to watch the show and the fireworks. Then it’s on towards either the gate at the entrance to Epcot or the boat dock for nearby resort hotels. On the way to dinner at one of the pavilions, one can pass the Canada Pavilion or the UK area. The boat dock is close to UK, along w/the men’s and ladies’ rest rooms.

One thing I like about the oncoming dusk is how those pillars surrounding the lagoon light up the sky like giant torches. If I’m headed towards the exit at the gates near Future World, then I might pass the Disney Pin store or the popcorn seller, or even the store that has the Coke soda samples. But if I’m tired, I’ll pass by these attractions, head towards the nearest men’s facility, and then seek the bus queue for my resort, especially if I’m staying at a hotel serviced by a Disney bus.
