Sandals and Beaches “Platinum Protocols of Cleanliness”: Keeping Guests Safe and Healthy

If you are ready for a Caribbean vacation – where you can find some much-needed relaxation amidst the sun, sand, and palm trees – among the things that will be important to you is the destination’s safety and cleanliness policy. The “Platinum Protocols of Cleanliness” that have been implemented by the Sandals and Beaches Resorts are designed to make their guests feel comfortable and at ease, knowing that their resort has the highest possible standards of cleanliness and safety. When you visit a Sandals or Beaches Resort, you can have peace of mind throughout your escape to the Caribbean.

Sandals resorts have always been scrupulously cleaned and sanitized every hour of every day. But now more than ever, their existing practices are being enhanced to include a number of pre-emptive cleanliness measures.

Prevention is the key to safeguarding the health of both employees and guests. Under the guidance of medical professionals, the Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), and the local Ministries of Health in each country where they are located, Sandals/Beaches has dedicated Quality Inspection Teams and environmental health and safety managers at each resort to make sure every procedure is in place to protect every guest and team member. That even includes having full-service medical stations staffed daily with a registered nurse and 24/7 on-call medical personnel, which have now been upgraded to include the appropriate equipment and supplies needed to address new protocols.

So what exactly can you expect with Sandals and Beaches Platinum Protocols?

Exclusive Private Airport Lounges: Sandals guests are never left to fend for themselves in crowded airports. Every guest is given access to the private lounge reserved for Sandals and Beaches guests only. Upon entering, guests will be given a dollop of hand sanitizer, complimentary mask and gloves and a cool drink in luxurious surroundings. In addition:

  • The Sandals Lounge is cleaned and sanitized every 30 minutes throughout the daily operation
  • All Team Members wear a mask while on duty, including drivers
  • In addition to wearing masks, taggers handling bags must also wear gloves and wash hands regularly
  • All Luggage Porters wear mask and gloves
  • All hard surfaces are sanitized every hour throughout the daily operation
  • Restrooms and food areas inside the lounge are cleaned around the clock, every hour on the hour

Airport Transfers: Sandals only uses private transfers for all guests. To ensure proper social distancing, the number of guests transported in every type of vehicle has been reduced. In addition, every driver will be wearing a mask and gloves and will have sanitizer for use by each guest. Vehicles are also re-sanitized after every trip.

Eighteen Touch Point Practice: An important part of the Platinum Protocols, includes a focus on advanced hygiene practices at over eighteen key touch points. In addition to the ones already noted, special attention is given to:

  • Dining, Dining Rooms, Bars, Kitchens
  • Housekeeping & Laundry
  • Butler Service, Club Sandals, Concierge
  • Aqua Center, Dive Boats, etc.
  • Guest Rooms
  • Elevators
  • Fitness Centers
  • Bathrooms
  • Suppliers & Receiving
  • All Public Areas (including both resort and beach areas)
  • Back of House Areas (kitchens, store rooms, offices, etc.)
  • Red Lane Spa
  • HVAC Systems

Among the hundreds of details that guests may (or may not) see happening: The water in the pools is checked every hour. Every surface — door handles to coffee makers — is inspected at least three times a day. Bar stools and tables are pulled farther apart. Dive gear is immediately stored in sanitization solution. Air ducts are sanitized every time guests depart a suite and black lights are used on surfaces to make sure there are no stray imperfections.

And there are things that guests will not see: Each and every staff member, from housekeeping to butler, goes through a new daily routine upon arriving on property. There’s a temperature check, mandatory changing of clothes, and a “shoe bath” to clean and disinfect shoes.

This all-encompassing approach starts from the moment guests arrive, through to the entire on resort experience up until your farewell. But beyond all of this, what else makes Sandals and Beaches a great place to experience a relaxing vacation?

Privacy and social distancing – which to be honest have always been there and now are appreciated more than ever. Private infinity-edge pools. Private tubs on the verandas. Private in-suite bars. On large, and in some cases private, beaches guests can practically claim an acre of sand to remain distant from others. The decisions to include as many as 105 private pools, up to seven expansive main pools, and 16 restaurants on one giant property have never been for the sake of attracting crowds. It’s to diminish them – the perfect socially distant way to vacation.

When you’re ready for sun, sand, and social distancing, Sandals and Beaches will be there to make your dream vacation perfect in every way.
