Located in the American Pavilion in EPCOT’s World Showcase, you will find a production unlike any other. This show – The American Adventure – features 35 Audio-Animatronics figures and a 72-foot screen depicting America’s history. You can see firsthand how the story of the U.S. began along with the struggles, the victories and the people who contributed to this amazing story.
Inside the Colonial Theater, as the show begins, Mark Twain and Benjamin Franklin are your emcees as they take you from the landing of the Mayflower and the struggles of those settlers, through the Boston Tea Party, the winters at Valley Forge with George Washington, and the how the Declaration of Independence was written and signed.
But that’s just the beginning of the story. As the show goes on, you will meet many of the people who have played important roles throughout America’s history: through the exploration of the west, the Civil War and 2 World Wars, as well as those whose inventions and technology brought us through the “space age” and into the 21st century.
This elaborate film took Imagineers 5 years to complete and is housed in what is intended to be the “people’s mansion”. This massive building is a combination of several classically styled buildings from locations such as Colonial Williamsburg, Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, and the Old State House in Boston.
To make this more than “just a movie”, The American Adventure utilizes 10 different sets that are stored beneath the stage and are moved into place at various times throughout the show.
This show is for all ages and heights, and lasts about 30 minutes. The theater does get dark and due to several pivotal points in our history will have loud noises and booms that could frighten younger children.
The American Adventure is “America’s story” and it’s a wonderful story for both adults and kids!

Debbie and her husband live in Chattanooga, TN. They both are huge Disney fans and try to visit the most Magical Place on Earth at least once a year, if possible. They are enjoying taking each of their now 10 grandchildren and hope to also take their great granddaughter in the near future. One of their favorite trips has been visiting Disney with adults only, including one trip when their son proposed to his girlfriend. Each trip begins with the planning, which can take up to a year, beginning with how to get the grandkids excited about their upcoming trip. They have surprised some of them the day before they left, while the latest one had “presents” every 10 days starting at 90 days all leading up to an exciting trip with her parents along also. Their philosophy on Disney Trips? “Each trip is completely different, like visiting Walt Disney World for the first time.” They both enjoy all that Disney has to offer, but enjoy Animal Kingdom and EPCOT the most. It is their goal that everyone who visits Walt Disney World has a magical trip with lots of memories to last a life time.
