There are a lot of things to think about when deciding where to stay at Walt Disney World. If enjoying the spirit of a lush, beautiful South Pacific island is something that sounds amazing, then you’ll want to consider Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. This deluxe resort is located across the Seven Seas Lagoon from the Magic Kingdom, and is also one of the original resorts that opened when Walt Disney World opened in 1971. It also benefits from being one of the 3 resorts on the monorail, making fast and easy to get to and from the Magic Kingdom.
Disney’s Polynesian Resort is one of the most popular deluxe resorts at Walt Disney World, and for good reason – it’s relaxing island theme makes it the perfect place to relax and truly feel like you’ve gotten away from it all on your vacation. In the lobby of the Great Ceremonial House you’re greeted by tropical colors, vibrant greenery, and a smiling Tiki statue. The resort grounds are lined with palm trees, and paths lead to the beach where guests can see the Magic Kingdom across the lagoon.
The main pool, the Lava Pool, is centrally located in the resort with a volcano-themed water slide and a multi-level kids’ water play area. In the grassy plaza between the pool and the Great Ceremonial House, guests can often see a torch-lighting ceremony around dusk.
Accommodations at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort are housed in different buildings, each named for different Pacific islands. Rooms can sleep up to 5 adults, and guests can choose from a variety of views that can include the lagoon and the Magic Kingdom.
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has a great selection of dining venues. One of the most popular restaurants is ‘Ohana, an all-you-care-to-eat experience with Polynesian-inspired flavors. Breakfast at this restaurant also features a character dining experience with Lilo and Stitch. For a more casual meal, Kona Café serves dishes with island and Asian flavors. Guests can also sample appetizers and drinks from one of the most unique bars around, Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto. If you only need to grab a quick bite, Captain Cook’s is the resort’s quick-service option. To pair some entertainment with your dining, guests will also find the luau-style Spirit of Aloha dinner show here.

In addition, Guests at the Polynesian also have a variety of recreation options beyond the pool and beach, with boat rentals available for different types of watercraft, in addition to fishing, and boat excursions for small groups.
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort offers bus service to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Disney Springs. Boat service is available to the Magic Kingdom, and monorail service takes guests to the Magic Kingdom as well as Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa and Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Guests can also transfer at the Transportation & Ticket Center to take the monorail to Epcot. The resort does not typically share buses with any other resort, and so has direct transportation to the theme parks.
With the tranquil and beautiful feeling of the South Pacific islands, great location, fun recreation, and some delicious dining options, it’s not wonder that Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is one of the most popular resort hotels at Walt Disney World!
