Karen grew up in the Boston area and traveled to Disney World many times with her parents and sister. Always staying at the Fort Wilderness Cabins gave the trips a feeling of a home away from home. It also started the tradition of attending the Hoop Dee Doo Review on each trip! Somehow that show sparked her interest in the Disney College Program. Which she did in the fall of 2002, working as a hostess @ Captain Jacks in Downtown Disney. Now as an adult, Karen finds herself traveling to the parks on a yearly basis! Photography has always been a hobby of Karen’s, but over the past few years it has become her passion. It’s even taken her to her favorite place! The Make a Wish Foundation sent a family to Disney for a week and Karen was lucky enough to be their photographer of choice! She got to tag along and photograph their memories being made. She hopes to get that experience again someday! You can find more of Karen’s photography on her site www.KPportraits.com.

What is your most “terrific” ride or attraction at Disney World? (Or if you haven’t visited yet…what do you look forward to seeing or doing the most?)

And now….on to today’s post from Shannan! 🙂

Last time we read of the thrills and excitement experienced while riding on Kali River Rapids.  Well, this attraction is nothing near the thrill ride of Kali, but it is just as exciting!  Number six on my kids’ top 10 most fun things to do at Walt Disney World is meeting characters.  You can accomplish this in several different ways and in lots of different places.  Each park has certain characters in certain places through out the day.  Always check with guest relations at each park to verify the exact time and place of character appearances. A Disney Christmas Dream

Editor’s Note: This month, The Affordable Mouse is celebrating our 2nd birthday! And in honor of our birthday, our Friday posts this month will be all about…..celebrations at Disney World! To start us off, Kelly has some thoughts about a celebration that she has yet to make….but hopes to some day…..

We all have a dream when we think about Disney World, for some it may be a magical stay at a deluxe villa resort, for some it may be an extended vacation with everyone in their family, for others it may be to actually visit Walt Disney World for the first time ever. My Disney dream is to visit Walt Disney World for Christmas. Not the week before, not the week after, I want to wake up Christmas morning and open presents with my kids at Walt Disney World.  I want to celebrate Christmas at Walt Disney World!!! Read more

Happy Thanksgiving From The Affordable Mouse

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you from all of us here at The Affordable Mouse. We wish you and your family every good blessing and we are so very thankful to have you join us today!

I personally have so much to be thankful for this year. I have been blessed in many ways, paramount among them is the birth of my first grandchild (or grandprincess as I like to call her), Aleyah, who at 4 weeks old has already brought more joy to my life than I could have ever imagined. I cannot wait to take her on her first trip to Walt Disney World and Nancy and I have a friendly bet on how long I will be able to hold out. Read more

Disney Gift Giving: DeAnna’s Favorite Things….Disney Style!

The most wonderful time of the year is fast approaching.  You can see the signs of it surfacing on every shopping corner, as stores present finely decorated trees that seem to almost beckon you inside, and in those television ads leaning toward that “gotta have” toy for the kiddos, that fabulous piece of jewelry for her, or just the right power tool for him.  As my dear ole Daddy used to sing to me when I was just a little girl, “CHRISTMAS TIME’S A-COMIN’”!  So what’s on your Christmas wish list?  Sit back, sip some hot cocoa, turn on the Christmas music, and I’ll tell you a few things that are on mine, with a twist of Disney, of course……… Read more
