Wordless Wednesday: All Alone in the Parks

Are you looking for a great way to avoid the crowds? Set your alarms, and plan to be at the parks very early! Although you won’t be the only guest taking advantage of this time, it’s still fun to do! Not only does it get you first in line (if you walk briskly to the attraction of choice) but it also makes for the perfect picture taking opportunity! Bonus points if you make an early morning Advanced Dining Reservation at one of the in-park restaurants: empty parks for pictures PLUS a fun way to start your day!

Karen grew up in the Boston area and traveled to Disney World many times with her parents and sister. Always staying at the Fort Wilderness Cabins gave the trips a feeling of a home away from home. It also started the tradition of attending the Hoop Dee Doo Review on each trip! Somehow that show sparked her interest in the Disney College Program. Which she did in the fall of 2002, working as a hostess @ Captain Jacks in Downtown Disney. Now as an adult, Karen finds herself traveling to the parks on a yearly basis! Photography has always been a hobby of Karen’s, but over the past few years it has become her passion. It’s even taken her to her favorite place! The Make a Wish Foundation sent a family to Disney for a week and Karen was lucky enough to be their photographer of choice! She got to tag along and photograph their memories being made. She hopes to get that experience again someday!

11222382_10101976653143324_8925704033166866635_oHaving worked in Magic Kingdom, specifically in Fantasyland, I think it’s fair to say I’ve seen a lot of guests both young and old, both experienced and first time visitors.  All of these guests have something in common though: they all wonder what are the best things to wear and pack for their visits to the park.  Read more

Disney with Little Ones: Finding Nemo (and Dory) at Walt Disney World

13522949_10102198672649454_8660555227642462857_oIf your family is anything like mine, you rushed to the closest theater to see Finding Dory on opening weekend. We prefer to go to the 11am shows on Sunday morning to save a few bucks (shows before noon are only $6 at our local theater!) and to beat the crowds. The theater was pretty full, but not packed and not anywhere close to being sold out. Surprising, considering that this movie grossed an excess of $136 million – the highest opening for an animated film at the domestic box office (according to USA Today).

Regardless, this isn’t a movie review other than to say we LOVED it. My kids have been asking to watch Finding Nemo and digging out Nemo, Bruce, and Dory toys that they had all but forgotten about. There’s no doubt that the crowds will be a little thicker around the Nemo-themed attractions at Walt Disney World Resort following the huge success of this latest Disney summer smash.  Read more

Terrific Tuesdays: Finding Dory….and Nemo

13443098_10153768528581234_3299973430337741854_oI had the good fortune to see the new movie, Finding Dory on Saturday night at the IMAX Theater. I have to say, I absolutely loved it! But while watching it and experiencing all that 3D does for a movie, it brought me back to thinking about the Finding Nemo show in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Read more
