Disney’s Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show Review

Dinner shows at Disney are a special treat for us as we do not book one every trip. Most recently when we traveled to Disney World we booked Spirit of Aloha (SOA) Luau Dinner at Disney’s Polynesian Resort. This show features all you can eat Polynesian affair and entertainment. From luau dancers to fire spinners there is quite a feast for your eyes!  I would like to make mention that this was our first trip to this particular dinner show. Read more

Thrifty Thursday: Affordable Snacks in Epcot – Future World

We’ve done some snacking in Magic Kingdom and in Epcot’s World Showcase so far, now let’s turn to Future World.  My family loves to eat, some of our best Disney memories are around a Disney dining table, or sitting down with a snack and watching people have a magical vacation.  Snacks can add up in Walt Disney World so we try to pick the most frugal of snacks while in the parks. Thrifty Thursday: Epcot International Food and Wine Festival 2012

Epcot International Food and Wine Festival: six words that are sweet, delicious music to every Disney foodie’s ears.

Walking around the World Showcase, sipping and snacking, is a great way to spend an afternoon (or two … or three) during Food and Wine, but it’s not exactly the most cost-effective way to get your Disney dining done.

But never fear! I’ve been to the Food and Wine Festival, and I’ve got you covered. Here are my top five picks for the thriftiest treats at this year’s festival:

Pumpkin Mousse from Hops and Barley (Mouse on the Mind)1. Pumpkin Mousse from Hops and Barley (American Adventure)
Not only is this the cheapest eat on my list at $1.50, it’s also my all-time favorite Food and Wine snack. Yes, it’s small, but there are four or five good bites here, and every one of them is delicious. It’s got cool, creamy pudding,  chewy craisins and a little bit of crunch from the oat crumble topping. Perfect, delicious and thrifty.

Wordless Wednesday: Eating Healthy In Disney

Traveling can sometimes make eating healthy tricky. However, Disney has options for everyone, whether you have an allergy, are vegetarian or just don’t enjoy burgers & fries day after day. You can also pack your own snacks and store them in a soft cooler in a rental locker. All of the parks do offer healthy snack options such as fruit & yogurt.

Karen grew up in the Boston area and traveled to Disney World many times with her parents and sister. Always staying at the Fort Wilderness Cabins gave the trips a feeling of a home away from home. It also started the tradition of attending the Hoop Dee Doo Review on each trip! Somehow that show sparked her interest in the Disney College Program. Which she did in the fall of 2002, working as a hostess @ Captain Jacks in Downtown Disney. Now as an adult, Karen finds herself traveling to the parks on a yearly basis! Photography has always been a hobby of Karen’s, but over the past few years it has become her passion. It’s even taken her to her favorite place! The Make a Wish Foundation sent a family to Disney for a week and Karen was lucky enough to be their photographer of choice! She got to tag along and photograph their memories being made. She hopes to get that experience again someday! You can find more of Karen’s photography on her site www.KPportraits.com.
