Disney Fun from Around the World: Week of July 23, 2012

Greetings Disney Friends! Summer may be winding down soon, but there is still lots of time to enjoy some of those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer! Like today for example: sit back and relax in a hammock, grab a glass of lemonade, and take a peak at the latest Disney news that Rachel found for you this week! I guarantee some Disney smiles….and isn’t that a great way to spend a summer’s day? 🙂

Disney Outside the Parks: Trick or Treating in Your Neighborhood

Can you believe we’re half way through the summer already?  And I know it seems early to be thinking about Halloween costumes, but it is only about 6 weeks until the first Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP) at Magic Kingdom!  Even if you aren’t attending MNSSHP, dressing your kids (or yourselves) as your favorite characters is a perfect way to share your love of Disney in your own neighborhood. Out of the World Summer: The 411 on Disneyland Paris!

We are back fresh from Europe!  Are you eager to learn about Disneyland Paris!?!  I’m going to be brutally honest, if you want to save money, don’t go in the summer!  I think that, for the ultimate Disney fans, it’s something you should see.  If you aren’t all that interested, save your money for something bigger and better in France.  There is a lot to do, but that is for another time and place 😉

I loved being in another Disney park.  The decor and the rides were great!  Their Space Mountain was awesome, it has a fast take off and some twists and the decor and theme may even be better than Orlando’s.  Most of the rides were comparable to the ones we know and love.  We rode the following: Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear, Small World, Lancelot’s Carousel, Hatter’s tea cups, Pirates of the Caribbean (no Jack Sparrow in theirs!), Indiana Jones Coaster and the Haunted Mansion.  The Indiana Jones coaster was more like a “wild mouse” ride.  Personally, I like the show better;)  Their Rock and Roll roller coaster was down while we were there, so there wasn’t too much to do in the Studios Park besides Tower of Terror.  Like our Hollywood Studios, their Studios Park is a lot of shows and experiences.  It was very crowded so getting on everything was never a possibility. The Great Movie Ride Dinner at Disney’s Hollywood Studios: The Experience

EditorLast week, my friend, Lisa Battista, author of Beyond the Attractions: A Guide to Walt Disney World with Preschoolers shared Part One of her recent experiences at a very special event. This weeks she concludes her delicious review.

In May, I received an email inviting me to “The Great Movie Ride Dinner at Disney’s Hollywood Studios” for Tables in Wonderland members. I rationalized the expense ($165 per person plus tax; gratuity included) as being a combined birthday / Father’s Day gift for my husband. Never mind that I was attending as well. I also assuaged my guilt by using Kelly’s tip to save 5% on the event. I used my Target REDcard to purchase Disney gift cards at Target, which I then used to prepay the dinner. Read more
