Disney, the master at creating scenic backdrops for a year’s worth of events and festivities, is at its glory during the Christmas Holiday season. The parks are, of course, decked out with lights, wreathes, garlands, trees, and many other holiday symbols and decorations celebrating all the winter holidays. But overlooked by many who visit during this time of the year, are the resorts where, in my opinion, the true Christmas “gems” are, when it comes to decorating. For many, a visit to Walt Disney World during the Holiday Season would not be complete without seeing the Candlelight Processional. Performed 3 times each night at Epcot, from the day after Thanksgiving until Dec. 30, this moving concert tells the story of the Nativity, featuring a 50-piece orchestra, celebrity narrator and a massed choir made up of choirs (including many student/school groups) from around the country. The first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (or MVMCP) of the year is tonight, ringing in the Disney Holiday Season. Held at the Magic Kingdom on select nights through December 22, this is a festive and fun way to celebrate the holidays. With the chance to see magical fireworks, a parade and live shows, plus carolers, special characters, “snow” on Main Street and all the cookies and hot chocolate you want, it’s easy to see why this is a great way to get into the holiday spirit. A “hard ticket” event, MVMCP is not included as part of regular park ticket admission however, so if you want to attend, you will need to pay extra. Read more
