Affordable Disney: Saving Time Equals Saving Money

Fast Passes are great for helping to save time, but they also help you save money too! How is that you may ask? Well, as the saying goes: “time is money” and nowhere is that more true than at Walt Disney World, where a one day ticket can cost in excess of $100. So how do you make the most of what is not a small amount? Let’s break it down a bit and look at how those FastPasses help you get more for your money.

It is a well known fact, that on most trips, you will not be able to do and see everything! However, spending your time wisely will let you see a good share of the parks and ride the things you would like to do most, so you are making the most out of your vacation dollars.

Let’s break this down, based on the roughly $100 / day cost (Times and cost are estimated for demonstration purposes only, so your mileage may vary):

Without using Fast Passes, you can expect that the time you spend standing in line and getting from attraction to attraction will “cost you” roughly 45-60 minutes per attraction, depending on the time of year you visit Walt Disney world (there are some times of the year where you could easily spend 2-3+ hours per attraction). In a full day at the parks from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, taking out time for food and bathroom breaks, during an “average” time of year, you have about 10 hours to do everything you would like to do. Using this math, you could then see roughly 10 attractions per day without using FastPasses. That comes to about $10 / attraction.

Now let’s say you get Fast Passes for those must-do attractions. With Fast Passes, your average time can be dropped to between 30-45 minutes per attraction, again depending on the time of year you visit. (Of course, you won’t have a FastPass for every attraction but with the ones you do have, that will lower your average time per attraction.) Using the same time frame of 10 hours, that will allow you to now see 13 + attractions each day, making each attraction about $7.70.

Time and money saved! Obviously these are just time and cost estimates for demonstration purposes only, but you see my point.  Fast Passes can help you make the most out of your day, by letting you bypass the queues. Your wait time as a whole is drastically cut down, therefore making the most of your vacation dollars!

(And if you want to drop that average wait time even further, plan to take full advantage of any Extra Magic Hours that are available!)

A little planning ahead of time will make the most of your day and make the most of your vacation dollars as well. That’s a win for everyone!
