Thrifty Thursday: Extra Magic Hours

When it comes to saving time at Walt Disney World, one of the best ways to do this is to take advantage of Disney’s Extra Magic Hours. If you are staying at a Disney resort during your Walt Disney World trip, then you will have the advantage of using Extra Magic Hours. These are extra hours available at various parks on certain days outside of regular opening and closing times. In the morning Disney resort guests can enter an hour earlier, and in the evening they can stay 2-3 hours after regular closing.

For guests staying on Disney property, Extra Magic Hours can provide extra time in the park. Our family loves Evening Extra Magic Hours. The parks are beautiful at night and the crowds are usually quite low during these hours. Depending on how busy the day was overall, you may need to wait out the Extra Magic Hour time a little to see the crowds clear out. This advantage is best at the Magic Kingdom, which sometimes offers as many as 3 extra hours.

If you want to use evening hours, plan to stay up late – take some time to nap in the afternoon so you’ll be rested up, and perhaps don’t schedule that 8:05 am character breakfast for the next day.

For Morning Extra Magic Hours, you need to plan to be at the parks before those hours begin, in order to take full advantage of them. If you can do so, chances are you will get a lot done in that hour before the park opens for regular hours, since most people just aren’t going to get up that early!

Whether you are an early bird or can stay up all night, Disney’s Extra Magic Hours do give you the opportunity to get more done during your park time….if you can take full advantage of them!
