What are you doing at 6:00 AM Friday, May 22, 2015? I am not really a big planner but my plans are set for this day. I’M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD! This is the 24-hour Coolest Summer kick-off at Magic Kingdom. The park will be open from 6:00 AM Friday until 6:00 AM Saturday.
The last couple years Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World has been hosting a 24-hour event to kick off summer. In addition to the attractions, Disney has other things planned through out the day. Last year there was a heroes parade and a villains parade. Guests voted on which one they liked best and they ran the favorite parade again. It happened to be the villains parade.
On a regular day there is a dance party available in Tomorrowland. During the 24-hour event they have three dance party areas. One in Tomorrowland, one in Frontierland, and one right in front of Cinderella castle. We usually don’t participate in these parties but after 21 hours at the park if we didn’t dance, we probably would have fallen asleep!
Staying the entire 24 hours can be quite a feat. Of course it’s not necessary to stay the whole time. There is just something magical about being there to see the sunrise Friday and be walking out of the park as the sun rises on Saturday.
If you decide to add the 24 hour event to your plans, there are a few things to know before you go. Valid park admission is required for this event. All 24 hours are included in a one day park ticket. If you want to see the opening show arrive at least 15 minutes early. Costumes may be worn during this event. The events listed above may or may not be available this year.
As we know Disney is magical. After 24 hours it can also be tiring. There is a different feeling in the park on this day. It is something I am very much looking forward to. Hope to see you there!

Denise has loved Disney as far back as she can remember. She has two teenage girls who were raised with Disney. Their rooms were decorated, and their closets were filled with Disney articles. Her daughter tags along when she can, without missing too much school. Her oldest daughter (20) doesn’t make it to Florida much anymore, but hopes to again very soon. Denise’s first trip to Walt Disney World was for her birthday in 2009. She fell more in love with the magic of Disney that day! Ever since then, Denise and her kids have been annual passholders. Last spring she upgraded to a premier pass to include Disneyland. Over spring break her youngest daughter had the pleasure of her first visit to Disneyland. With Denise helping them plan, her brother and his family enjoyed their first family trip to Disneyland at that same time.
