Princesses With a Plan: 35 Days and Counting

The ticker on my Disney Time Countdown Clock says 35 days, so I figured this was a perfect opportunity to update you all on the trip Susan and I are planning for our magical girlfriends getaway to Walt Disney World. With only 35 days left, and lots of entries in our own personal calendars, we have been stealing away time to talk every chance we can get about our plans and ideas. We have completed all the necessary pre-trip details. We have a plan for our touring itinerary, foodie list, and not-to-miss rides and show information. We have ordered t-shirts, developed packing lists and calendared other items not quite ready to act upon yet. I have also contacted online friends who will be visiting at the same time and have scheduled tentative meeting times.

Pre-trip Details

We have completed all of the necessary pre-trip details by purchasing our insurance and paying off our trip. Since we purchased the Quick Service dining plan, no ADRs were necessary this trip.

Touring

Our touring plan for the parks is pretty laid back compared to the long trips we have taken with our families. We traditionally have 9 park days when we travel with our families. Since we only have 4 days in the parks this time, and our first day is a travel day so it is cut short, we have basically made a schedule of which park(s) we will visit on each day and then a list of must dos, parade times, etc. We will just “wing it” the rest of the time. This keeps a great deal of flexibility in our schedule which we will thoroughly enjoy as we are usually on someone else’s time schedule.

Foodie List

My friend, Susan, and I are what I would call food connoisseurs. We recognize and appreciate delicious food. This is probably why whenever we get our families together there is always food involved. 🙂  Since my last Princesses with a Plan post (about one of my favorite things – pasta), we have spoken a little more about places where we are interested in “getting our appetite on.” In addition to the pasta, we will be enjoying some of the foods from my Foods Bucket List. Specifically, the Kitchen Sink Sundae at Beaches and Cream (Beach Club Resort), the giant Cinnamon Rolls at the Main Street Bakery (Magic Kingdom Park), a Dole Whip at Aloha Isle (Magic Kingdom), and some candy goodies at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. I have read about these favorites of Disney fans and now it’s our chance to partake in some of your favorites.

Not-to-Miss Rides and Shows

We have developed a collective list of rides we don’t want to miss. This list includes all of our favorite rides at each park; especially our favorite thrill rides: Tower of Terror, Rock N Roller Coaster and Expedition Everest.

I also contacted Bob to make sure he will be at the River Roost Lounge at the Port Orleans Riverside during our trip and (YEA 🙂 ) he will be there each night September 28-October 1. He is such a fun and friendly guy, and an exceptional entertainer. We are looking forward to seeing him again.

T-shirts

We have officially placed our order for the t-shirts we are having made for the day of travel, Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, and WDW’s 40th Anniversary celebration. Now, we are just waiting for them to arrive. Hope they come very soon!

Packing List

Since my post about packing for WDW, I have made a trip to Las Vegas and realized something very important. During my first time to fly since the rule for “one quart size baggie per person in your carry-on bag with only the number of 3-oz containers that will fit,” I discovered one thing – not all my stuff fits. We are going to check a bag but I will take my essentials in my carry on just in case our luggage gets lost. Unfortunately, my essentials did not fit into my baggie on my Vegas trip. I had to buy a couple of easy to find items at the hotel. For this trip, I have decided to put those items in my checked luggage and hope for the best.

Calendar entries

Even though we only have 35 days until our wonderful, magical Disney vacation, there are certain to-dos that we simply cannot do yet. We have entered these items into our calendars and added highlighted Mickeys on them. These calendar entries include ordering our MNSSHP tickets (we will wait as long as we can due to hurricane season), doing Disney online check-in ten days out, and checking us into our flight 24 hours prior to departure.

Disney Friend Meet N Greets

I am really looking forward to spending time with my BFF Susan. I am also looking very forward to meeting my good friends Kelly and Mike, and their families. We have developed meaningful friendships online and it will be wonderful to get to meet them in person. Susan plans to take lots of pictures for me too! Thank you, Susie Q.

As we grow nearer and nearer to our magical girlfriend getaway, the excitement builds more and more. It is hard to contain myself sometimes. Susan and I hope each of you will make a plan for yourself very soon!
