Universal Orlando has lots of opportunities to meet unique characters, and Islands of Adventure definitely has several of our favorite character meet and greets. Most character meets are scheduled, and there are a few that aren’t, but if you look in the right places you can find plenty of awesome character experiences.
One of our favorite places to meet characters is in Marvel Super Hero Island. Here you can find superheroes out and about meeting guests, usually including Storm, Rogue, Cyclops, Spider-Man, Captain America, and Wolverine. You can also often find villains like the Green Goblin and Dr. Doom. Note that Spider-Man has his own indoor spot near the Marvel Alterniverse Store. Times are listed on the park maps, and if you can get there before the meet starts, there’s a cool moment where the heroes all roll in on motorbikes.
Probably the most unique meet is in Jurassic Park, where guests can get their photo and some harrowing interaction with a Velociraptor! The Raptor Encounter is located next to the Jurassic Park Discovery Center, and lets guests get up close to a live and kind of tame (not really) Velociraptor. There’s a little bit of a scare factor because the raptor does behave like, well, a raptor. This is definitely a unique and very fun meet. It usually starts around 10 am, and can sometimes build a line on busier days.
Another great spot for characters is Seuss Landing, where guests can find Dr. Seuss characters such as the Cat in the Hat, the Lorax, and Thing 1 and Thing 2. You can find times for these characters to be out and about on the park maps, and the characters also sometimes meet with guests after the Oh! The Stories You’ll Hear! stage show in Seuss Landing.
Although usually not scheduled, you can sometimes find other cartoon characters meeting guests in Toon Lagoon. You may find Betty Boop, Woody Woodpecker, or Popeye and Olive roaming the area.
