Disney World Deliciousness:T-Rex, Prehistoric Dining at it’s Finest!

If you are a Dinosaur lover, then Downtown Disney has the restaurant for you…T-Rex!!  This is one of our favorite restaurants…their food is great, the service has always been outstanding when we go…and it just doesn’t get much better than a room full of roaring Dinosaurs every 15 to 20 minutes during the meteor showers!!

Reservations are recommended as there is always a crowd waiting to get in and you can use your Disney Dining Plan there as well.  While you are waiting to be seated, you can browse through the gift shop, Dino-Store, at the entrance of the restaurant where you will find clothes, toys and you can even build your very own dinosaur at the Build-A-Dino By Build-A-Bear Workshop!!  There is also a hands-on experience for the kiddos at the Paleo Zone…where they can dig for fossils and pan for treasures!!

With names that bring back memories of the dinosaurs we grew up hearing about, the dining experience gets you right into character with this pre-historic themed restaurant.  You can start with appetizers such as T-Rexadillas, Brachiosaurus Bruschetta or The Supersauraus Sampler which lets you sample four of the great appetizers available.  After enjoying the first course, why not try a Pteradactyl Salad with a Stegosaurus Steak and Cheese Sandwich to sooth your rumbly tummy.  Or for you seafood lovers, the Jurassic Shrimp Skewers or the Tar Pit Fried Shrimp which features lightly fried golden brown shrimp served with tarter and cocktail sauces, waffle fries and cole slaw!  YUMMY!!  Pasta lovers can enjoy a fantastic selection of dishes such as Layers of the Earth Lasagna, Mammoth Mushroom Ravioli or the tri-colored cheese tortellini aptly named the Triassic Tortellini.  And finally for you carnivores, you can choose from the Mega Mes-O-Bones slow roasted spare ribs, Neanderthal New York Strip Steak, Tyrannosaurus T-Bone or you can feast on the Boneyard Buffet…a combo of fire-roasted rotisserie chicken and a rack of Mega Mes-O-Bones, that is sure to satisfy your T-Rex size appetite!!

Don’t forget to have your camera ready to get pictures of the Dinosaurs when they come to life…you won’t want to miss a single one…especially the 15 foot-tall T-Rex!!  There are different rooms available for different dino experiences…our favorite is the Ice Age Room…which changes colors every few minutes and has bones frozen in time.

Go hungry and expect to have a ROARING good time!!

As Julie says: “I am addicted to all things Disney! :) I grew up in Vernon, TX and now reside in Waller, TX (outside of Houston) on a small ranch with my hubby and all of our animals who we affectionately call “The Zoo Crew”! We have been married almost a year now (together for 7) and have 5 children and 9 grandchildren between the 2 of us. We knew we were meant for each other when we discovered we were both Disney fanatics! :) I went to Disneyland for the first time when I was 6 and fell in love with the magic of Disney. Now, my husband and I go to Disney World every 2 years either with friends or with whichever kid and grandkid are available to go at the time. We spend a lot of time planning our trips to ensure that everyone has the most memorable time while there, so that is what I will be writing about and hopefully give you some ideas to try for YOUR next Disney vacation. I am very excited to be a part of The Affordable Mouse team!”
