One of our favorite things to do at Disney World is to eat at the MANY different restaurants that are located in the parks, the resorts, and at Disney Springs (Downtown Disney)! There are so many options, it would take YEARS to eat at them all…but we’re up for the challenge!!
Disney offers Dining Plans for resort guests, DVC members and Annual Passholders that help make eating to your hearts content even easier! There have recently been some changes made to the Dining Plan that have made it even better for all of us loyal Mouse Fans!!
Let’s start with the Table Service changes…for those guests who aren’t big dessert eaters (I unfortunately do NOT fall into this category); you can now substitute your desserts for a cup of soup, a side salad or a delicious fruit plate! Also, you are no longer limited to the number of entitlements per dining experience…for instance, if you are meeting friends for dinner, say at Disney Springs, and they are not on the Dining Plan, you can use YOUR extra credits to buy THEIR meal! How cool is that? And guests who have purchased the Deluxe, Premium or Platinum Dining Plans can now substitute any child meal entitlements for adult meals. So far, these are some pretty great changes!!
Now for the Quick Service changes…guests may now substitute any dessert or non-alcoholic beverage for an eligible snack as long as it is requested at the time ordered. For instance, if you would rather have an extra order of fries with your burger instead of a dessert, just let your server know when you place your order! Also, you can substitute 1 Quick Service Meal for up to 3 Snack Options as long as you request this when you order!! And guests with both adult and child entitlement on the Quick Service Plan can order all adult meals if they so choose!! It just keeps getting better, huh?
And finally, let’s go over the Snack Entitlement changes too! Snacks are now considered ANYTHING that is a single serving size…even those yummy funnel cakes…AND if they come with a topping or dipping sauce…they are now included in the price and you aren’t charged separately for them AND this includes snack items OVER $5!! YAY!!
Other snacks included are all ice cream novelties, all hand-scooped ice cream including sundaes (but they cannot be more than 2 scoops or served in a souvenir container), all single-serve non-alcoholic beverages (not in a souvenir container), all soups served in participating Quick Service locations and all items on the Quick Service menus listed as side items. And let’s not forget this awesome Snack change…Quick Service Breakfast items that are considered part of an entrée and offered as sides, such as bacon, sausage, eggs and potatoes…are now considered snacks as well!! You can even have cereal with milk, oatmeal or quinoa, French toast sticks, grits biscuits and gravy or hard-boiled eggs as snacks too!! Who’s ready to go to Disney World??
I know that we are looking forward to these Dining Plan changes for our trip in November!! I’d better pack some bigger clothes!!!
As Julie says: “I am addicted to all things Disney! 🙂 I grew up in Vernon, TX and now reside in Waller, TX (outside of Houston) on a small ranch with my hubby and all of our animals who we affectionately call “The Zoo Crew”! We have been married almost a year now (together for 7) and have 5 children and 9 grandchildren between the 2 of us. We knew we were meant for each other when we discovered we were both Disney fanatics! 🙂 I went to Disneyland for the first time when I was 6 and fell in love with the magic of Disney. Now, my husband and I go to Disney World every 2 years either with friends or with whichever kid and grandkid are available to go at the time. We spend a lot of time planning our trips to ensure that everyone has the most memorable time while there, so that is what I will be writing about and hopefully give you some ideas to try for YOUR next Disney vacation. I am very excited to be a part of The Affordable Mouse team!”
