Dining at Disney World: Something Cool and Refreshing for Summer

If you have ever been to Orlando in the summer you know it can be extremely hot and steamy.  Nestled in Adventureland, within the Magic Kingdom, is a bit of golden magic: a heavenly mixture of ice cream and fruit juice that is sure to cool you off, even on the warmest Florida days.

The Dole Whip is a golden pineapple soft serve ice cream that is fruity, juicy, and most importantly, cold.  I had been to Walt Disney World several times before ever discovering this wonderful treat.  I had heard of them and was always told to try them, but we were always either too busy or unable to locate them.  That is until our second trip as a family when I made it my mission to locate and enjoy the wonderful Disney treat.

Pineapple Dole Whip Float

I’m not trying to be over the top but this is seriously delicious!  Aloha Isle is located in Adventureland within the Magic Kingdom and is one of only two places in all of Disney World where you can purchase a Dole Whip.  If you walk away from the Magic Carpets towards the castle it will be located on your left.  You will find it has a small walk-up window with an insanely long line.  Yes, it will be a lengthy line, in the morning, afternoon, evening, and even at midnight; however trust us, it is well worth the wait.  Some days the line goes faster than others, but be patient, I promise, if you enjoy pineapple you will love this.

The famous Dole Whip is a pineapple flavored creamy soft-serve concoction made from Dole itself.  The only other place, I’m told, to get this yummy treat at the moment is at the Dole Plantation in Hawaii.  We always get the Dole Whip Float; this is the pineapple Dole Whip covered with fresh pineapple juice.  It seems like a lot of pineapple, but if you adore the sweet, yellow fruit you will thoroughly enjoy this.

Vanilla-Pineapple Swirl cup

Also on the menu is an orange flavored soft-serve; we have tried this with the pineapple juice over the top as well, it was very good, but not as good as the original.  You may also just get a cup of the pineapple or the orange soft-serve without the pineapple juice or, if you prefer, Root Beer and Coke Floats are also offered at this location.

Dole Whips are considered a snack on Disney’s Dining Plan and good for any time of day.  If you are not participating in the Dining Plan, a Dole Whip Float (also known as Pineapple Float) will cost you $4.99.  The soft drink floats are $4.49.  A cup of the soft serve treats come in at $3.79.

There is also assorted soft drinks and other beverages, juice, hot beverages, and they have chips and freshly cut pineapple spears.

While enjoying your magical Disney vacation this summer try Aloha Isle and a Dole Whip Float to cool off.  You will not be sorry.
