Disney likes to go to infinity and beyond for their guests in everything they do. Bringing in the newest technology, incorporating everyone’s favorite characters, providing excellent customer service, and making lasting memories for you and your family. Disney also likes to do things extra that you may not find at other amusement parks. Cast Members call these extra-added touches Magical Moments.
Now don’t go running to the nearest Cast Member, they may not tell you about or even acknowledge these Magical Moments. These are done spontaneously and sporadically. We do not go into work knowing when it’s going to happen and whom we’re going to do it with. When the “Big Cheese” gives us the thumbs up we jump to go spread the magic. There are multiple types of Magical Moments throughout all of the parks. They create that extra bit of pixie dust to make your memories that much more memorable.
Have you ever spotted that stone in front of Cinderella’s Golden Carousel? You can’t miss it, it has a sword stuck in it. Have you wished that you could retrieve that sword from the stone and claim the right of “King, or Queen, of England” or just to impress whomever you’re with? Well believe it or not it has happened. Children young and old have retrieved the sword from the stone. Sometimes it is in front of a crowd and other times just in front of their friends and family. Being able to pull the sword from the stone when no one else was able to leaves them with a lasting memory.
Other Magical Moments that can be found at parks include being chosen for the rope drop in the morning, or even being chosen to be in a parade. Castle Couture used to share their space with Tinkerbell’s Treasures. For those select few who were very lucky and who believed with their whole heart, they could share a Magical Moment with the pixie herself. They would be showered in pixie dust after catching a glimpse of the little fairy. In some of the candy shops through out the properties people have been given free samples and even invited to help build their favorite treat.
When I was younger my family was among those chosen to go up on the stage in front of Cinderella’s castle. It was for a presentation they were doing on the Disney Vacation Club. I will never forget that memory. There is no system as to who we pick, so there is no way to increase your chances. Sometimes that’s best though, if you go into the parks looking for and expecting these moments than it wouldn’t be as magical as it would if it was a surprise.
The best memories made at Disney are those you make for yourselves with your family and friends. Disney does their best to make your memories as magical as they possibly can be. Sometimes though Disney will pull out all the stops for you. These Magical Moments come when you least expect it just to add an extra sprinkle of magic to your vacation. So the next time you go on your Disney vacation have faith and trust that you’ll make some new memories and perhaps this time will be the time they shower you in extra pixie dust for a Magical Moment.
Jess was born and raised on Long Island, New York but once college began so did her adventures. She’s lived in Florida, Wisconsin, and now South Carolina. Her family is part of the Disney Vacation Club and has been visiting since she was a little girl, and continuously goes every year. Besides being a big Disney fan she has also been a Disney Cast Member working in Magic Kingdom, and she counts it as one of the most magical experiences. She worked with everyone’s favorite elephant Dumbo, Cinderella’s Carousel, and Mickey’s Philharmagic. Jess has also visited Disneyland, Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, and gone on two Disney Cruises. She has so many great memories from Disney besides running half marathons and 5ks, birthday parties, and family reunions. If asked where she would want to go it is almost always Disney, and when asked why, it is almost always because she can eat awesome gluten free food! And it doesn’t hurt that there is always faith, trust, and pixie dust with magic in the air!
