Cast Member’s Corner: Looking for Hidden Mickeys

Have you ever been at a Disney park or resort and spot something that looks like Mickey and think: “What a coincidence?”  It’s not a coincidence at all.  Disney does not have coincidences, everything has been extremely well thought out and planned.  These Mickey silhouettes are hidden Mickeys that have been strategically placed throughout the property.  You just have to know where to look.

Next time you’re looking at Splash Mountain take a good look at the opening on the drop, it’s a hidden Mickey.  All of the rides have hidden Mickey’s somewhere on the ride.  Of course it is not just the rides that have these hidden Mickey’s.  The restaurants, shops, and parks have hidden Mickey’s as well.  Keep an eye on railings and scrollwork on the architecture.  In the hotels take a look at the floors.  A lot of times there will be a hidden Mickey in the carpet design.  Ask any Cast Member and they should be able to point you in the right direction for some hidden Mickey’s.  When I was younger and stayed at the Wilderness Lodge I know they had a sheet of paper that was a scavenger hunt for the hidden Mickey’s.

So the next time you are your family are in Disney keep a close eye out.  You could make a new game and tradition for yourselves.  See who can find the most hidden Mickey’s.  The Disney Imagineers strategically placed these hidden Mickey’s for your amusement.

Happy hidden Mickey hunting, have faith, trust, and may the pixie dust pay the way to the hidden Mickey’s.
