Cast Member’s Corner: Happy Holidays to All

With the holidays coming up many people are making their wishes come true by celebrating in Disney.  Be it Disneyland, Disney World, or Disney around the world, land and sea there is plenty to do and see.  Many of my fellow writers have been and will be telling you about the who, what, whens and better yet hows.  I’m here to tell you that while you are celebrating the holidays at Disney with your families, the Cast Members are celebrating their holidays with you and may not get to see their families.

Disney is open 365 days a year, and they are always well staffed with their Cast Members each and every one of those days, in order to make your stay as magical as possible.  Cast Members often don’t get to have the holidays off and instead are working and making your holidays even better.  It’s not all bad though; sometimes Disney does have meals or get-togethers for the Cast Members to celebrate the holidays together.  Often times these are broken up by location, such as each resort, so that it feels like a family celebrating the holiday together instead of a bunch of strangers gathered around for a meal.  This makes the Cast Members feel the magic of the holidays, in their home away from home, with their work family.

Now if you are celebrating the holidays in Disney and staying on property there is a unique opportunity for you.  Before you even arrive at Walt Disney World and check into your room, a few of your Disney friends can get that room all ready for you.  I’m talking the whole nine yards of holiday décor if you want.  It is easy and you can work with your budget.  Disney Floral and Gifts has been around for quite awhile, and offers more than just flowers to set up in your room.  Over the years they’ve learned what works, what doesn’t, and what guests really want.  Now you can customize just about everything.  You can give them a call or go on their website, disneyfloralandgifts.com, and take a look at all they have to offer.  If you want a tree then you got it.  Just need stockings?  They have them stuffed and ready for you with just about anything you could want.  Prices vary depending on what you’re getting but they are worth it.  Surprise family members with a little something waiting for them when they arrive, or have the room decorated to make it feel a little more like home while you’re away.  If you’re saving money while you’re away for the holidays bring some decorations from home.  The room is yours while you’re in Disney, which is why you’re welcomed home, and it’s your home resort.  Why not make it feel like it?

While you’re in Disney enjoying the holiday season take a second to remember you are not only celebrating with your family but also with the Cast Members.  You should thoroughly enjoy your holidays but remember that the Cast Members are working during those holidays to make them magical for you.  So smile and wish them happy holidays as they do to you.  While you are with your family during this time, they are not.  I wish each and every one of you a very happy holiday season and an even happier new year.  May you be drenched in faith, trust, and buckets and buckets of pixie dust!

Jess was born and raised on Long Island, New York but once college began so did her adventures. She’s lived in Florida, Wisconsin, and now South Carolina. Her family is part of the Disney Vacation Club and has been visiting since she was a little girl, and continuously goes every year. Besides being a big Disney fan she has also been a Disney Cast Member working in Magic Kingdom, and she counts it as one of the most magical experiences. She worked with everyone’s favorite elephant Dumbo, Cinderella’s Carousel, and Mickey’s Philharmagic. Jess has also visited Disneyland, Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, and gone on two Disney Cruises. She has so many great memories from Disney besides running half marathons and 5ks, birthday parties, and family reunions. If asked where she would want to go it is almost always Disney, and when asked why, it is almost always because she can eat awesome gluten free food! And it doesn’t hurt that there is always faith, trust, and pixie dust with magic in the air!
