Many folks (including myself) have found Disney’s “Let the Memories Begin” promotion this year to be a touching way to celebrate something that we all….Disney veteran or first-timer….associate with a Disney vacation: the opportunity to create special, lasting memories with those we love. Few things are more precious…or priceless….than these moments we share with family and friends on a Disney vacation.

I bring this up because, I am getting ready to leave for vacation next week, and while I wish I could say that we were going to be traveling to Walt Disney World, I am still excited nonetheless to have a chance to unwind at the beach for an entire week. Now, those of you who have been regular readers of The Affordable Mouse for a while, know that when I go on vacation, I like to bring you guys back a souvenir or two as giveaways. :) And as I talked about this with our wonderful writers, we thought it might be fun to tie my vacation giveaway for you into some fun and games as well, all celebrating what Disney does best…create memories.

I guess you could say that while The Affordable Mouse is away, the Affordable Mousketeers will play. :)

So, let me share with you what exactly they have cooked up for you while I’m gone:

Starting next Tuesday, July 5 through Sunday, July 10, we are having a special “Disney Memories Week and Giveaway”. In honor of this year’s “Let the Memories Begin” theme, each day, one of our great writers will share a favorite Disney memory….and will provide you with a chance to be eligible to win a $50 Disney gift card. :)

Here are the details of how to enter: We will give away ONE $50 Disney gift card at the end of the week. You will have up to 2 chances to enter each day by commenting on the blog post and/or our Facebook page.  The more days/times you comment, the more chances you have to win. (But please, to be fair to everyone: only ONE blog entry and ONE Facebook entry per person per day…) The winner will be selected using Random.org, from all who enter by midnight ET, on Sunday, July 10.

I know our wonderful writers are SO excited to be sharing their memories with you, and are even more excited to help you win some Disney spending money! So be sure to stop by EVERY day of the contest to read and comment. And if you do not yet “Like” our Facebook page, now is the time to do so, in order to have a second chance to win each day as well!

I can’t wait to come home to read all of the Affordable Mousketeers’ wonderful Disney memories, and to see your thoughts too! Let the Memories Begin!!!

My family went to Orlando for the first time last September. My son is battling brain cancer and we wanted to celebrate the end of his radiation and chemo (chemo only for a short period of time). I used to take him to Disneyland when you was a baby, so this was a wonderful treat for us and I find the making memories theme very fitting, as we are attempting to make as many memories as we can.

My favorite memory is the first time my daughter saw the castle, I nearly cried she was so happy to see Cinderellas “house”!
