Choosing tickets for your Walt Disney World vacation can be a little overwhelming and even more so if this is your first visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth. Let’s make things a bit easier today, by breaking down your ticket options!
Base (One Park Per Day) Ticket: This is available for 1 to 10 days. Anything over about 10 days, you may want to look at an Annual Pass. This ticket will give you access to one park each day. You can enter and leave as many times as you want, but you cannot go to another park once you have enter a specific park. The Base Ticket also does not allow access to the water parks. Pricing varies for adults 10 and older and children 3-10 and will also vary depending on when you are traveling. For vacation packages, if you choose fewer days than you are actually staying, then your ticket will be valid from your day of arrival to the day of your departure – but only for the number of days on your ticket. Example: If you are staying for 7 nights but are only getting a 5 day base ticket, it will be valid for the entire 7 days of your vacation package
Ticket with Park Hopper Option: Unlike the Base ticket, this ticket will allow you to hop from park to park each day. For example, you can visit one park in the morning and in the afternoon go to another park. When you choose this kind of ticket, all days are Park Hoppers, so you can’t choose a Base for a few days and then change to a Park Hopper.
Ticket with Park Hopper Plus Option: This ticket not only includes the ability to hop from park to park, but also allows you to enjoy the water parks, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, a round of miniature golf either at Disney’s Fantasia Gardens or Winters Summerland Miniature Golf Courses and 9 holes at Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course. With a Park Hopper Plus ticket, you get a certain number of visits to other Walt Disney World fun based on the length of your ticket. For example, a 4-day ticket allows 4 visits and a 5-day ticket allows 5 visits.
4 Park Magic Tickets: This is the newest, limited time ticket option and is valid to enter one park per day and only one day for each park. You cannot go to the same park twice, so this ticket allows you to visit all 4 parks in the 4 day time frame. These are only available certain times of the year, so it will depend on the time of year you are visiting.
Your ticket options will be loaded on your Magic Band, along with hotel and dining plan information if you are staying on site. This makes it so much easier than carrying around a separate ticket as in years past.
Which ticket is best for you? Sitting down and doing some preliminary planning can help you decide and of course, your experienced and friendly travel agent can be a tremendous help as well. Perhaps a park a day will work or it might work better to hop from park to park or even take some additional time to enjoy other amenities.
Whichever ticket you choose, enjoy the planning!

Debbie and her husband live in Chattanooga, TN. They both are huge Disney fans and try to visit the most Magical Place on Earth at least once a year, if possible. They are enjoying taking each of their now 10 grandchildren and hope to also take their great granddaughter in the near future. One of their favorite trips has been visiting Disney with adults only, including one trip when their son proposed to his girlfriend. Each trip begins with the planning, which can take up to a year, beginning with how to get the grandkids excited about their upcoming trip. They have surprised some of them the day before they left, while the latest one had “presents” every 10 days starting at 90 days all leading up to an exciting trip with her parents along also. Their philosophy on Disney Trips? “Each trip is completely different, like visiting Walt Disney World for the first time.” They both enjoy all that Disney has to offer, but enjoy Animal Kingdom and EPCOT the most. It is their goal that everyone who visits Walt Disney World has a magical trip with lots of memories to last a life time.
