One of my favorite things to do at the Magic Kingdom is the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor Comedy Club. Located in Tomorrowland, this is an audience-participation attraction and it is a lot of fun. It is a kid-focused comedy show but I am always one of the kids involved in the action. I don’t know if I have tattoo on my forehead that says “Pick Me” or what, but every time we go they put that camera on me. It is all in fun so I don’t mind so much but I am always surprised and a little embarrassed when I realize they’ve done it again.
When you enter the lobby of the theater, there are televisions on the walls. One of the opportunities to get into the act is to text your best joke to a certain number they post on the screen. If they use your joke, your name and state will be announced during the show. Once you get nearer to the auditorium doors, Roz is your hostess for some instructions and to embarrass Mike Wazowski.
The auditorium seats up to 400 guests. As you are seated, the theater cameras single out people and put funny captions beneath their picture on the screen. Mike is the “monster of ceremonies” and introduces the show’s comedians. The comedians are other wild and crazy monsters who hope to capture your laughter. The show focuses on a single guest, known as ‘that guy’. Thankfully, I have never been ‘that guy’, I have only been called on to answer funny questions.
I believe the Disney Imagineers really outdid themselves on this attraction. The level of interactivity with the guests is great. This 15 -minute show is really cute and a lot of fun! Best of all it is free to be enjoyed as often as you’d like. Hope you’ll get into the act during your next visit!
